I was a Firefighter for 32 years. Your local Fire Department/fire museum would love to have that in their collection. You did a wonderful job on it.

Nicely done. Thanks for the peek at your DIY paint booth. I think a workshop tour video is needed. 👍

Another great video!
You got me. I thought you were putting that plaque on in that run down condition and I was practically yelli2g at the screen that it needs as much TLC as all the rest of it received.
Thank you very Much!
Definitely want to see more of your shop!

In all my years in engineering, I have never, ever, seen a vise on a workbench fitted the wrong way round

It would make it more difficult to tighten. To use the flat bit as solid area for hammering?
It looks great and new again also you did an excellent job restoring it as well!!!! I enjoyed your video so I gave it a Thumbs Up

thanks for the support! I love my community!
I looked up "Peerless hose strangler" and was successful in finding the exact same tool being sold on eBay. Seller says it's "rare", however, I did find multiple results within my search so I'm uncertain just how rare this is. Cool find, though!

The first thing I think of when driving by a firehouse and see the guys out playing volleyball or an ambulance sitting in a parking lot is that all is right with the world. We want first responders to be bored! if they aren't working then everyone is safe!
Ahhhh hahahahaha great joke ahaha. I enjoyed watching this from start to finish. Very well done. That mobile paint shop you have too is epic!! Pitty about as you said not finding out more history about this project! Also yes could we see a bit more of your shop please?? (Edited for spelling mistakes)
Very nice work, turned out to be interesting piece.great video as always just keep doing what you do best and carry on.😎😎😎👍👍👍

I don't get it. What is for. Can't you just turn off the pump?
Класс!!!👏👏👏
So here is what this would have been used for its to stop the flow of water from a live line already connected to a pumper truck or a fire hydrant so a new line could be added or changed quickly without shutting down the whole system allowing lines to be connected to reach farther faster once the new line was attached the water would flow as fast as the clamp was released thus saving time and possibility lives or total loss of a building
Yes, show me your shop!

Another great job! I’m curious to know if you live in the USA….
When the fire hoses are dropped off the engine they use the clamp to hold the hose down while the rest of the hoses are pulled off the engine..rarely used much anymore..

I think you may be speaking of a different type of clamp. You can find information on this one in the Internet Archive. Search "peerless hose clamp" (in quotes) and search text contents. One item that pops up is Municipal Journal 1914-12-17: Vol 37 Iss 25 pages 904-905 where the function of the device is described and pictures are displayed.
Peerless still makes pump can water fire extinguishers. They now go by Miller Peerless.

nice job. One question: Wouldn't a Hi Vis Orange have been more appropriate to help prevent someone tripping over it when in use? A previous owner (or two) repainted it. The last owner using it for a display piece, from what you said at the beginning. It is possible the silver or white it was when you got it is not necessarily the original color.

as it was (apparently) that same colour under the manufacturer plate, it's probably the correct colour
👍👍👍
Это похоже на спаривание двух железяк😅😅😅😅
Interesting ~ why was a “valve” clamp needed for the hoses? 🤨
