Old Fashioned Maine Sugar House

‪@WildernessAcademy‬ presents a unique adventure to an old fashioned Maine Sugar House to document the making of Maple Syrup! The video shows the process from the tree to the table. Simmons & Daughters Sugar House really is run by the Simmons family and their daughters. Thank you for inviting me to your family farm and for all of your hospitality!

We just went there as well. The family were very nice and taught us a lot about what goes into making maple syrup and candies. We also did a small video of our adventure there, not as good as yours, but we tried. LOL. Keep up the great work.

Awesome job. I’m in sabattus and when I was a kid we would always tap the maple trees in the spring and boil it over an outdoor fire pit. Such great memories came flooding back watching this. Thanks.

They are an amazing family! The father is one of our distinguished Maine Game Wardens. He is on the program “Northwoods Law” if you have ever watched that series. Thank s for the view! All the best!

Came here and subscribed because I heard you preaching about this channel. Bless you sir. Hope you can use this channel in conjuction with your ministry. After all learning of the lord's creation, the wilderness, sort of complements ministry.

Well, that was a nice adventure. I have to get to the store because I'm almost out of pure maple syrup and it is the only kind I use. Capt. Jim Brodie introduced me (us) to pure maple syrup onboard the Coast Guard Cutter Courageous. He was a native of Vermont and said, "a day without maple syrup is like a day without sunshine."

Thank you for your view and comments Roland! There really is no substitute for real maple syrup, not to mention all the health benefits. Try a little in your coffee one day, or tea.

Use to take my sons and other scouts to a sugar shack in Northern Maine. They had an ice table which they put syrup in and the boys made Taffy. Thank you Tiff.

Bacteria is what affects color of syrup. The first sap is lower in Bacteria because of the colder Temps, as the season progresses the Bacteria increases making the syrup darker. 😊

I was visiting this family and their sugar house, it was not mine. Unfortunately, I do not have an answer concerning where they purchased their equipment. They have a Facebook page, Simmon’s and Daughters Sugar House. They are very gracious people and you can direct your question to them personally. I hope that helps. Thank you for your view! All the very best your way.
