Hmm, almost like Valve has made no attempt to hide the focus on eSports at this point in the game's lifecycle. But the problem is, Counter-Strike's setting is not and never has been the Liandi Grand Tournament (no matter how many servers liked to implement the Unreal Tournament announcer as an addon). So there's an obvious art-style clash going on here now. Needless to say, this game has had a major identity crisis ever since the the insanity over the skin and esports money kicked off.

If you didn't realize that Panorama update changed the soundtrack, it's mostly because Panorama only removed the alternative soundtrack, so it plays the exact same tracks everytime an event happens. They probably did this to avoid creating multiple tracks for the same event for newer Music Kits (as Kits newer than the Panorama Update have one variants only).

Damn, that CS:GO Pre Panorama OST gives me major nostalgia. I didn't even know they got rid of some tracks post Panorama since I turned off the OST a while ago.

A matter of tastes, the CS2 music kit is like they are introducing you into a kind of a sports tournament where only the best of the best will win, and the big crowd just cheering their team adding to the majesticness and greatness of the event. CSGO kits in the other hand are like if they're introducing you to a story where something is going really wrong and you need to hurry the fuck up to solve it, you can't avoid it, you have to face it. Or at least that's how i intreprete them two

Well CS2 was made for the competitive scene in mind with its music sounding like from a tournament while CSGO was made with the early 2010s shooter era in mind with its cinematic movie like music so I guess your right

@@commie_remover Funny you bring up LoL, they watered down that music too, the old music was much more intense. They've generally moved towards more edm tracks especially for the login screen. It used to be much more orchestral and epic.

Pre Panorama soundtracks were perfect fit for CSGO. They were getting me hyped instantly. After they changed it to Panorama Update, CSGO wasn't the same anymore so I started to buy music kits. Honestly best memories of CSGO are from 2012-2016

I heard you can still hear _most_ of the old music as alternate tracks played in Hostage mode but I haven't confirmed it since I have basically zero reason to play Hostage and last time I did, I had a music kit equipped. For all I know, they could've removed them entirely from CS2 as the CS:GO music is effectively as much of a music kit as every other one. Update: It doesn't work in CS2 :[

2012 : Intensity, marching forward. 2018 : Fighting against evil, or with Evil. 2023 : E-Sports.

post panorama one was there too it varied between the two depending on maps and teams. Other one(2012 one) is T side/middle eastern theme used on Dust1 and dust2, idf and elite crew had it usually play, tho it also played on other maps on occassion.

Oh god, you unlocked an old memory of mine... that old Pre Panorama soundtrack is sooooooooo good, is there any way to have it back on cs2 (haven't actually tried the legacy kit)

I did use a music kit for so long, that I didnt even knew they replaced the entire music with the Panorama Update. The first kit I have ever used was "Sail" which I bought in 2015 or 2016 and I think right before the Panorama update came I switched to "Lifes not out to get you" so I didnt play without a kit anymore. In the 2018 or 2019 I started to play with a second account because of friends and for me the music from the panorama felt so normal. I have used a kit for so long, that I forgot the old music. Crazy to me that I ONLY remember the old MVP sound, I really forgot about all other sounds. Im also not sure when I started to turn off all music besides the MVP so Im not sure how long I have heard the music in general.

As someone who first played CSGO in around 2013-2014 and absolutely loves the original soundtracks, I still think the CS2 soundtrack is undoubtedly pretty awesome too

There are so many great things about og and panorama soudtracks that made me have a nostalgia about all good moments. But now I think the best soundtrack for cs2 is "shooters". Under that graphics and modernization, it just fits.

I haven't seen anyone mention the fact that the tracks used to be divided between hostage rescue and bomb defusal (probably because no one plays hostage rescue). The "pre-panorama" tracks played in hostage rescue and the "panorama" tracks played in bomb defuse. After the panorama update, the original bomb defuse tracks played in both game modes.

I hate valve to this day for removing og soundtrack in panorama... They removed the best parts of the soundtrack for no good reason.

Loved that alternate version of the original csgo way better than what we were left with. Hopefully they fix that in an update to the music kits, since they do have the alternating main themes
