Geebz, the album this song comes from, Currents, is probably the best modern psyche album of the last few decades. Listening to it start to finish, especially the first 8 tracks, is an unbelievable sonic journey that is so damn cathartic. The opening track Let It Happen is masterpiece. Listen to it on the beach during sunset to dusk on a beautiful day, you won't be dissapointed.

100% agree - been bumping this on a regular basis since it came out 8 (!) years ago. One of my all-time favourite albums. The production on this album is incredible; the drums in particular are crispy as hell. Skull Snaps tried to sue him for using their famous 'It's New Day' break on 'Eventually' but it's all original drums :)

Absolutely perfect pairing, especially considering where the album was mastered. In Yallingup, Western Australia at a studio called the Beach House. I grew up and live in Western Australia, and have actually been to parties in my younger years where KP and some of the members of Pond would be hanging out in North Perth. It's a great place to live because some amazing things and people have come from here but it's also such a small population for such a large and diverse state. In fact, I went to high school and shared home room with Melanie Perkins, she created Canva. Small town, great vibes.

The Bee Gees influence is so strong with Tame Impala, it's like a modern version of them blended with indie rock instrumentation. So it's not quite an 80s revival, nor a typical indie band, instead it's something completely new, yet the emotional core of it is something we all know intimately within ourselves.

8:25 In samba, usually played with a seven strings guitar, a very commom thing to do is what we brazillians call "baixarias", where between some verses as a counterpoint, the player do some bass lines in the 7th string, just like Kevin do. An good example for it's in the verses of Cartola's "Preciso me encontrar"

whats insane about this song is the fact that kevin played everything and i mean EVERYTHING but the drums on his guitar, the piano and synths and bass are all done with the roland gk3 synth pickup on a squier j mascis jazzmaster and processed through roland's mk-55 guitar synthesizer, the bass is the p-bass setting on that run through overdrive and i believe he said chorus and compression. the rhodes were played on guitar which is why the inversions are interesting on it and the synths were also done by guitar. kevin wrote this album while traveling a lot so he didnt have access to most his gear so he recorded almost everything on guitar.

I really enjoyed your review of this song! I myself enjoy Tame Impala very much so it was definitely a pleasant experience I don't mind the title of your channel, if I could recommend something it would be to have consistent branding across your channels "KeyofGeebz" "GeebzWorldReview" I also don't want to give you the impression you're doing anything wrong, as long as your enjoying yourself is all that matters.. But, if editing this video, in post I would recommend splicing the specific moments in songs that you're referencing when you pause to review - for example when talking about the sizzling of the Bass, splicing in 4-12 seconds of footage of the song itself will let listeners know exactly what you're referencing (Useful for helping viewers with untrained ears) Regardless, thanks for being you & hope you enjoy your coffee!

Tame Impala (Kevin Parker), "That song originally I thought shouldn't be on a Tame Impala album, because it has this dorky, white disco funk. I wouldn't call it cheesy, but it's not trying to be too cool, because the lyrics are pretty dorky and the groove is pretty dorky. But at the same time, for me, I love that kind of music. I don't know why, but I've been obsessed with disco for the last year or two."

You need to hear Scary Pockets with Elise Trouw's cover of this. I actually prefer it...
