Haken are so great! Difficult to find a song from them that's not going to be special or great for some reason. Any song will be good, even if it's not a favourite! Get deeper in their rabbit hole, you'll deeply enjoy the ride!

Oh, and of course that means you really need to hear more Haken! :-) One track doesn't tell you much of what they're about.

This song is an absolute banger. You should check out Cockroach King, and others have also mentioned Crystallized, both by Haken.

Harken is totally one of the best prog metal bands post Dream Theater. They are more experimental with their songs too. I haven’t seen them live unfortunately but I did see Ross sing when he fronted Mike Portnoy 50th birthday tour.

Cockroach King would be nice, but personally I’d prefer Crystallised above all.

Absolutely give "The Architect" a listen. Such an incredible journey with a banger of an ending. And also, Einar Solberg of Leprous is doing some guest vocals. So all in all, absolute banger!

Haken's Messiah Complex from the Virus album is next level. It will blow your mind.

PLEASE react to Messiah Complex by HAKEN. It’s one song subdivided into 5 parts and it’s 18:00 long but you did reptile so whatever. I REALLY think you’re gonna dig it man. It takes everything good about HAKEN and pours it down your throat.

That album is so incredibly well written. I worked with this dude, who was a professional cellist, played in orchestras, etc, and basically would only listen to classical music. I showed him that album and he told me it blew him away.

Carousel, from the same album, might be one of the grooviest tracks ever. You do a lot of tool tracks, I think you’d really dig this one. Wonderful auditory/soundscape journeys I’ve ever been on it. Please. Do more Haken.

Hmm he didn't do Invasion, right? At least not on the public KZread channel. Earthrise seems to be the only other Haken song he's done so far. I agree with both suggestions, but I think the next Haken track should be from another album. Maybe Visions or Affinity.

The two Haken tracks you've done so far, while certainly not "bad", are the equivalent of "radio singles" for a massive-scope prog band. I know there are many 10-20 minute Haken epics competing, and I know they all get suggested on your channel. But as a musician and a prog-rock-metal fan of two decades, I'm confused and alarmed that it's not a unanimous vote for 'The Architect'. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Aloha 🙏

Definitely celestial Elixer, just know it’s the finale of concept album about a mermaid. It’s awesomely weird.

Dude same here. Although I actually really like DT’s latest stuff, Haken just keeps getting better and better and to me would be an evolution of their sound (not that DT couldn’t do Haken’s sound, it’s just that their “signature sound” doesn’t feel like that at all and it’s not what they want to do.)

Hey man! I'd really love to see your reaction on Haken's "The Architect". It is filled with amazing guitar work and is such a great journey to experience. You won't regret it!

Hey Geebz, you definitely have to check out the Polish Progressive Rock / Metal band 'Riverside'. They are really melodic, and the singer also plays bass. It's a vital part of all their songs, the approach is somewhat similar to Rush with a touch of Tool and the finesse of Steven Wilson, I'd say. Dude, I would love to see you react to their track 1985 off of Affinity. As the name implies, it really reflects that decade of music while still feeling very much the band's signature sound, it's one of their best songs and is musical treat. Keep rocking on my dude, love what you're doing!

(In the closing riffage, I believe it's notated in 4/4 through to the end, but the drums drift and displace the "1" on repeats 2 & 4.) Invasion - Oddly enough, a Prog song where the singer is the key element in holding this song together.

This was my favorite album of 2020 (and I listened to a LOT of albums last year)

Haken - Cockroach King. Knowing what you do with the kids. You would absolutely get a kick out of the song and the video. All Right!!!

I love Prosthetic, don't know why others don't! Although I came into Haken later so I like their more metal sound. If you can, check out their track called Veil!

Dream Theater fans who like Systematic Chaos probably love this.

Haken's guitarist, Richard Henshall, has an album of his own that is absolutely amazing. Check out "Twisted Shadows", it features a synth solo by none other than Jordan Rudess.

Lessss goooo! Keep the haken coming Geebz. You can choose practically anything from them and I'll be happy because they are one of the premiere prog groups in the biz.

Good call on jumping into Haken, loved the reaction! I found those guys through the Prog Report Podcast and have been down the Haken rabbit hole for awhile now. Great band.

Haken is one of my all time favorites and it's so cool to see how much this excited you. I HIGHLY recommend, not necessarily for the channel but for your own wonderment as a composer, really going through this album as a whole. The composition is absolutely incredible as a whole piece. I love the channel so glad I found you this morning

Haken are absolutely incredible. If you keep listening, I bet you'll find yourself drawn to them as much as Tool. They're brilliant musicians with such a diverse and fascinating discography. Tons to dissect and they're strong in melody AND creativity. I'd recommend Carousel, Falling Back to Earth, Cockroach King, Puzzle Box, Atlas Stone Celestial Elixer, 1985... So many great ones!

Please please please do Elder! The Falling Veil is a great introductory track, wonderful modern prog.

I would absolutely love to see Celestial Elixir, or especially Crystallised, that song is super underrated for how incredible it is.

Probably my favorite reaction of yours. Love this song - those thrash metal riffs are soooo good. Now please react to "Invasion" by Haken, it's from the same album. It will make you go nuts. Actually the singer is a key element of that song and he's using his voice more like an instrument here. You will love it 😉

One of my favorite Haken songs and is the first track off their newest album, Virus, released just last year. Every album has a completely different vibe and would love to see you explore Messiah Complex from the same album. It's Haken at their best and includes recurring motifs from so many past albums.

Haken are such an outstanding band, and you can't got wrong with ANYTHING in their discography as they're so consistently amazing. Prosthetic is an absolute beast of a track!

Haken is an amazing band. Saw them with my friend "Lucy" and it was a hell of a show!

Falling Back to Earth is a must. I recommend you definitely checking it out.

Love Haken, was going to see them w Contortionist, both opening for Devin Townsend but then the pandemic hit, oh well. My fav songs of theirs are Streams (from 2010 Aquarius album), Crystalized (2014 Restoration EP, a 20min epic masterpiece) & Invasion, also from this album, Virus (2020)

Would love to see Carousel...it's such a cool way to take one idea and just play around with it in various ways. While sonically very different, it's very similar to how Tool songs are composed.

Now that shows are starting up again, I can't WAIT to see them tear the roof off of some joint with this song. Certainly not my favorite of their songs, but that still puts it faaar above most other songs.

Maybe check out "Black No. 1" (Beavis & Butthead reacted to it back in the day) or "Love You to Death" (amazing vocal tones and musical arrangements)? Also, I see you've reviewed a lot of metal, but no Cradle of Filth, yet. They're a treasure trove of sonic loveliness, and I humbly point you in the direction of "Bathory Aria" or "Nymphetamine Fix", for starters. Again, thanks for sharing your insight with us and keep having a good time on here.

Diego creates all those keyboard sounds from scratch, a creative process on steroids. The album Virus was written before Covid19. Synchronicity on steroids.

Haken is a new found (GOJIRA!) band for me, I love them, they sound phenomenal.

Haken is amazing. I think you should try out "Crystallized" from their EP Restoration. It's quite the masterpiece.

Pareidolia, The Architect or The Cockroach King (Full album version and after the puppet clip!). Geebz will love em all.

I've had the pleasure of seeing these guys live twice in AZ. Incredible performances and in small venues so it was very intimate and intense. Never get tired of their stuff. Still looking for that Lucid Planet reaction! Much love!

Hi Geebz ! First recommandation for me, I would love to see some Virus (the Norwegian) : As Virulent As You or Chromium Sun, Or Strange Calm. Very creative and underrated fellows for sure (absolutely no one I know knows about them and it makes me sad :D )

Would love to see your take on a band named Wheel. First their song titled “Wheel” off the Moving Backwards album, then their song “Ascend” off their recent album Resident Human. The latter album has a new bassist that’s why I referred two songs to ya! Very Tool-esque!!
