This video about making ring out of German silver coin 5 Mark. While I was making this ring, I spoiled three coins! These are very "capricious" coins and easily crack during the stretching process. This is one of the most popular rings in my store. These German coin rings really looks stunning! You can buy these rings in my Etsy store, direct linc here etsy.me/2R83ZsZ
To make coin rings, I do the following:
1. I anneal coin, use a jewelry burner. Annealing is needed to make the metal of the coin soft and suitable for transformation into the coin ring. Before annealing, I flux a coin. Flux is needed to protect the coin from oxidation when heated. After annealing the flux dissolves in boiling citric acid. The coin becomes clean and white.
2. I make a hole in the center of the coin. I use center punch tool.
3. I begin to give the coin the shape of a cone. I use a press, damming block, balls.
4. Intermediate annealing, so that the coin ring does not crack during subsequent stretching.
5. Stretching the ring. I use rings stretcher.
6. Reducing the ring, giving the desired size. I use the special cone reducer.
7. Blackening. I use a hot solution of sulfuric liver.
8. Processing and polishing. I use sandpaper, grinding abrasive wheels, polishing machine.
9. After polishing, I clean the ring in an ultrasonic cleaner (I not show this in the video)
After all that, I pack the ring, go to the post office and ship the package to my buyer's address!

My Grandfather was a coppersmith and he would do this with old British penny pieces. He didn't have any of the hardware at his disposal that is used here, he used a blow torch, a small hammer and a metal 'form'' to work around. The finished articles were brilliant!

Amazing! I lived in Germany as a young boy while my father was stationed there, and 5 DM was a lot of money to me. One day I found a 5 DM coin and I can still remember how elated I was! I have ordered one of these rings for myself.

During World War II, my uncle made a wedding ring for my aunt out of a silver coin while he was on a troop ship on his way to the Pacific. The only tools he had were a 40 penny nail and a pipe near his bunk to bang it on.

This popped up in my recommended and after watching the whole thing I took a chance and ordered one on etsy. The price was $60 and I couldn't believe no shipping fees. It's not like ebay where the sellers pad their price with higher shipping fees. The ring came in recently and this ring is exactly like the one in the video. It fits great, looks fantastic and is way better than my other coin ring. The edges are rounded so it doesn't cut into you when your hands swell or when you are lifting and carrying heavy objects. The detail on the ring isn't lost and doesn't look stretched. GREAT WORK, GREAT JOB, I LOVE IT!

I miss our old coins of the "Deutsche Mark" This one was a really old one. Beautiful ring, well done! Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪✌️
I've never seen a ring being made before it looks wonderful, your craft is beautiful.
Impressive. I made one out of an old silver quarter by tapping it with a steel spoon for days. I drove everyone around me nuts like a drippy water faucet.
WOW... just WOW 😍 I am from Germany and still know those Coins. I sometimes got one as pocketmoney from my Mom or grandmom 😊 5 Mark was a Lot of money for me as a kid at this Time
Nice setup you have there. I would love to start doing this as a hobby on the weekends. As a small child I used to love watching my grandfather make rings from silver quarters. Your rings are on a whole nother level though, very impressive and professional.

I was recently given one of these rings as a gift. My friend asked my ring size and I had no idea of what for and was I ever pleasantly surprised! I lived in Germany for 3 years and loved it there so very much. This is a wonderful memento, plus the craftmanship is superb and the sizing was perfect! This ring may never leave my finger!

Geniale Sache. Ein Stück Geschichte als Ring!!! Wahnsinn!!!! Super!..
I remember when I was a child they introduced the new 5 Mark pieces. Everyone in the class gathered around the teacher and everyone found the old ones more beautiful. That must have been 1975 or so. I still have one ore two of these and I'd be glad if someone made a ring out of it. These coins still contained silver. Now we have the Euro... no ring possible as 5 Euros are made of paper. Good old times vanished and with them the amount of silver in the money.

But all were deceived for another ring was made! In the lands of Belgium. In the fires of mount Brussels, there in secret the dark lord forged a master ring! The Euro! One ring to rule them all. One ring to find them. And to the European Union bind them!
@dino7307
3 жыл бұрын
Not far from the fiery peaks of mount Brussels were the Hungarians, also known as Magyars. They were an ancient mortal race that lived in Middle-earth. Although their exact origins are unknown, they were initially found in the eastern regions of Middle-earth and below the Vales of Anduin. At the beginning of the Third Age, Magyars moved north and west. Most of their race eventually founded the land of the Shire (Hungaria in their ancient tongue) in about the year AD 1001. Most Magyars enjoyed farming, food, wines, parties and the giving and receiving of presents and land grants. They were usually friendly and happy-go-lucky, although they were often shy of the Men of the West. When the dark lord used the One Euro to bring the lands of the west one by one under his spell, the Magyars fought the armies of the dark lord by vowing to keep their ancient, albeit worthless coins called Forint. With the War of the Ring escalating more and more Magyars brought out their last hidden Forints to fight the lost battle on the eve of total economic destruction.

You get a B- Comedy or satire requires at the very least a chuckle. Here we get another reference to Tolkien's now universal Hobbit trilogy. Leaving only the stale blandness of an orc's humorous side .

The full silver 5 DM coins were always the best!
Oh man from the thumbnail I instantly recognized it as a 5 Deutsche mark coin. I grew up in Germany for some years and I loved getting these as a child. German marks were pretty high value, about half the value of the current euro. Since I'm talking about the mid 1980s (taking into account inflation) it's pretty fair to assume that coin was about the same worth (at that time) as a 5 US dollar note today.
