    I have compared both personally. one of my neighbour has the XB32 and I have the charge 3. sony is louder and has deeper bass but charge 3 has a more balanced signature in mids and highs (making it sound louder in this video). bass on sony is a little overpowering making it sound muffled on some tracks.

    The sound of the XB 32 sounds like a pillow is covering up the mids and highs until you pretty much crank it up and nearly max out the volume. The Charge 3 is worse sounding than the XB 32 when it is playing on max volume. But from 80% volume going down lower in my opinion the Charge 3 sounds best.

    In your previous videos, you said that the Sony XB30 was louder than the JBL Charge 3. You also said in these videos that the newer Sony XB31 was louder than the older Sony XB30 as well as the JBL Charge 3. Now if the old Sony XB30 is already louder than the JBL Charge 3, how can the JBL Charge 3 be louder than the Sony XB32 which is just as loud as (if not louder than) the Sony XB31? Something just doesn't add up. 🤔 My theory is that, your Sony XB32 must not be fully charged when you did this test (maybe it was at 50% battery) which also meant that the maximum volume of your Sony XB32 was capped at 88%. We're talking 32 watts on the Sony versus 20 watts on the JBL here.

  • @adonaijanaslarona3245

    @adonaijanaslarona3245

    5 жыл бұрын

    @AlphaBoy17 Well I've watched some reviews and some of them claimed that the XB32 is about as loud or even louder than the XB31. Both have 32 watts drivers though (16 watts each driver), but the max wattage that the amplifier produces is unknown. The XB30, on the other hand, has 50 watts drivers (25 watts each driver), but the max wattage of the amplifier is unknown too. Some people say it's between 36-40 watts but no one can really tell unless Sony itself publishes the specs. The wattage for each driver, though, can easily be discovered if you watch teardown videos of these speakers; there you would see the wattage of the drivers: The XB30 is 50 watts drivers and both the XB31 and XB32 are 32 watts drivers.

    Maybe. With the eq

  • @adonaijanaslarona3245

    @adonaijanaslarona3245

    5 жыл бұрын

    @@jblfamily02 No, even without EQ the XB30 is louder than the Charge 3. DLX Willington doesn't use EQ in his videos and in his Sony XB30 vs. JBL Charge 3 battle he said that the XB30 is louder than the Charge 3. Now if the XB30 (which is a bit lower volume than the XB31) is already louder than the Charge 3, how can the Charge 3 be louder than the XB32 (which is about as the XB31)? The only explanation I can think of is this test was done when the XB32 was roughly at 50% battery which means that the maximum volume output was capped at 88%. Sony has this annoying automatic volume reduction at 70% and 50% battery marks. At 50% battery, the max volume output gets reduced to 88% and below 20% battery, the max volume output gets reduced to 20%. What's worse is that even after you've fully charged your speaker, the speaker's volume stays at its last settings unless you manually adjust it back up to full volume. This means that if your speaker's battery drops down to 50% and its max volume automatically gets reduced to 88%, when you fully charge your speaker, the max volume stays at 88% unless you manually press the volume buttons of your speaker to adjust its settings back up to full volume. Otherwise, if you don't do this, your speaker's max volume remains capped at 88% even if you've already fully charged your speaker. It's really annoying.

    Hate to say this but JBL surely has cut some corners here. I owned a JBL charge 3. I wonder why it sounded so nice so I did a little research on the components that they used on their motherboard. I then found out that JBL uses the CSR8675 chip on its speakers like the JBL flip 4 (I also own a flip 4 and I have already verified this). I can also assume that the JBL charge 3 has the same chip since they can connect with TWS or as JBL calls it "Connect Plus". JBL has also certainly used this chip with other speakers but I think they dont want to update those old speakers so that customers can buy new ones for the new features like connect plus. It is also worth noting that the CSR8675 offers some really advanced features. It has support for Aptx HD, Aptx, AAC, and SBC. But JBL decided to disable the majority of these codecs and I still dont know why. It also has support for an equalizer that can be set through an app in which the settings can then be stored on the chip itself (I have tried this on a CSR8645-based bluetooth module. I am also sure that its bigger brother, the CSR8675, also has this feature.)

  • @Aries2376

    @Aries2376

    5 жыл бұрын

    Though the Charge 3 is an old speaker. I think JBL should enable these features through an update. The chip they used on their speakers are really powerful and feature-rich. You can search the specs for CSR8675 online and see what features it can support.

    @@Aries2376 Hey, just asking what app for the equalizer? I have an S8 which has a built in equalizer but it doesn't seem to do much on my Xtreme 2 which I'm pretty sure has the same chip. Thanks

    @@nikinikiairmax Sadly, you have to connect the chip to a programmer first and enable the GAIA feature. And the CSR8675 chip compared to a CSR8645 chip, is much harder to program since it is very heavily proprietary and requires a special programmer. The CSR8645 can be reprogrammed through an FTD232 which is a very common module you can buy online (I have tried this myself). No one has seemed to have reprogrammed its much advanced brother which is the CSR8675 without requiring its special proprietary programmer (Qualcomm has this special programmer for sale online but it is quite expensive.) JBL has disabled a lot of features and they seemed to have modified its firmware to allow only their app to control the speaker. This app I was talking about is the JBL Connect Plus. If you can reprogram the chip and enable GAIA, you can the use the GAIA Control app in which it has an EQ feature. The EQ can be saved in the speaker itself (I have tried this on the CSR8645. I have made a DIY speaker with this chip and I was pretty much blown away with its features. It even supports AptX but only its older brother support the AptX HD). If only JBL could enable this feature through a firmware update.....

    @@nikinikiairmax I have some unsuccesful attempts in trying to reprogram the CSR8675 with just using the FTD232. But I could not get it to detect in my computer. I have also searched online, but no one seemed to have reprogram the chip without the special programmer. I just want to enable the APTX HD Codec and GAIA.
