I remember the cold blast as you went through the chiller bit in the supermarket. 8 years in Gilstead and 38 in Eldwick, now in the midlands.

I moved to Bingley in 1963 at the age of 6 and do remember some of the high street shops as on this film. I also watched the show jumper Harvey Smith competing in the bottom meadow so perhaps this was one of the times. Farmer Little was the headmaster of the secondary modern in my years there but it did get to be called Beckfoot at the latter end of my time

The middle section is Bingley Children's Gala. Assuming all clips are from the same event then the year is probably1969. At 13:40 and again at 19:05 there are oblique references to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang ("Truly [Scrumptious]" and "[Caractacus] Potts" appear on a float and again in the fancy dress judging). The film was released in the UK the week before Christmas in 1968. I was 13 in 1969 and would almost certainly have been at the Gala. Everyone went in those days.

I think it's showing more than one gala. I.m in it around 14 minutes in as Bingley Gala Queen. It was around 68 or 69. Does anyone remember the name of the pop group who are judging the fancy dress. She is in a red dress with 2 males. They were a folk group who had a few hits in the charts.

I think this is 1965/66. I was a Bunny Girl on the Crossflatts Float.

The end section is Ilkley swimming pool.
