All things considered, it was idling surprisingly smoothly once you got it running... I was genuinely amazed, I'd definitely vote for getting that old work horse back into show condition, it deserves it just for surviving this long.

I would do a video on scrapping it. Cut it up into a pile of scrap pieces with a disc cutter and burning gear. That would be quicker than restoring it and get a lot more views.

Definitely a vote to get it driving again! Maybe even see how it handles a few yards of dirt in the dump bed. It's too nice and deserves to work again!

All classics should be saved and put back on the road, I wish I had the money to get them shipped over to the UK.

Unfreaking believable that you got that oldie running with all that sketchy wires. Just goes to show how unstoppable those Dodge flathead six engines were. Basically the same engine from the 1930s almost to the 1960s
@obywatelcane6775
2 жыл бұрын
Shortened version of Dodge flathead was used by Avto GAZ in Pobieda cars and after that Polish Warszawa, Żuk, Nysa and Tarpan. It was called M-20. In 1962 Polish engineers changed its construction to overhead valve. That modified version was called S-21 and production ended in 1993.

Yeah, I can't even get my 1962 john deere to turn over with NEW wires. Crazy.
I'm not a Dodge fan but that truck is absolutely beautiful, and it seems to run so nicely it would be well worth getting it back on the road 👍☮️

I'd love to see it driving again!
My Dad had a 1953 Dodge for his cherry and apple orchard when I was a kid. I distinctly remember the no radio/no heater option. Also, the vacuum wipers that were almost useless unless you let up on the gas. The good old days!
@LesterMoore
2 жыл бұрын
Oh Lord those vacuum wipers. A friend of mine back in the mid 60s Father had a 56 Ford Ranchero wagon and in a downpour the windshield would fog up, the wipers wouldn't work until you let off the throttle. Nightmare on wheels.
Awesome that that ole truck started up with little work. Love to see you get that truck mobile again. It’s a piece of history and would be so cool to see someone driving it down the road again!
Love your videos. There's a simple pleasure in seeing vehicles long abandoned spring back to life under the care of skilled hands.
Its really cool hearing those old engines come back to life. Nice work getting it going again. you should definately keep working on it to put it back on the road ,even just having a cool old work truck floating around to play with.
Nice to see you let the engine run without full throttling it, these old engines that’s stood for so long need time to let the oil get around the inside bearing and valves
Get her running! Love these videos. Thank you for sharing.
Keep working! Cheers. My grandparents had several business Dodge trucks in the 50s. I have fond memories of riding in them. I occasionally think I need one. I can get buy without pretty.

A solid working truck is pretty on it's own. Paint, etc is just gilding the lily.
Just now ran across this video. That's definitely one of the bigger truck engines with that 3 piece exhaust manifold. I imagine it would be hard to find. Bigger than a 265, wich had a one piece exhaust manifold. The biggest they made was 413, but it had dual exhaust and dual carbs and the trucks had a longer hood. Remember seeing one in a pre-1948 dodge that used to be beside the old Young GMC truck dealership in Zanesville Ohio over 45 years ago. I had a 1947 with the same cab but this one had a longer nose, the hood didn't taper and the nose was wider and flatter then mine. I raised one side of the hood and saw the dual carbs and dual exhaust. Biggest old Dodge gas powered truck I ever saw.
love seeing videos of huge old dump trucks getting a good fix! love your stuff man :)
Get it driving, please!!! I have a half ton pilothouse like that. They are cool trucks. Not too many around anymore. Great videos! Thanks for taking us along.

Yeah it’s nice to See these old trucks moving again
Runs like brand new!👍😂😂 LOVE IT!
Amazing that old truck started with those wires to the plugs, with just a little gas and a new battery.
BY ALL MEANS....GET HER RUNNING!! I'D LOVE TO SEE A VIDEO SERIES ON THIS TRUCK!!~!!
I learned to drive on a 1952 Dodge Pickup, that brought back some memories. they were similar to the tee. I think that it could be brought back to running down the road capability, and even show you a profit for your investment of money and time.! Some of the older vehicles nowdays are bringing good money. my two cents worth.
Cool, little bit of work, that ole dodge would be useable again!! GOD BLESS!!!
Yes get it working for a living again, thank you for the great videos. Cheers.
I have another great show to watch. Great job
Get it working... please! Love seeing these old trucks brought back to life!
Wish cars were that easy to work on now. Wish I had my old Charger. Back I sold it in 1998. Was a 1971. 318. Good car. I put dual exhaust on it. Run pipes in front of rear tires. Sounded great. Just like a hotrod.
It's a cool old dump truck! If you can get the parts to repair it (not easy for that year) it seems like it would be a great project! 👍
What I wouldn't do to own this as a DRIVER !!!! BEAUTIFUL Ole truck !! What a BEAST !!
Man, I love these videos. Just watched the one with the Chevy stove bolt that sat for 71 years. Good shit 👍
Love to see it drive!
Those bigger trucks commonly have the larger 265 six cyl. I bought one at a estate auction at black rock Ar. Been setting 35 years paid $100 The next day a Sunday we went and installed a 12 volt battery . filed the points. ran a fuel line from a 5 gallon plastic tank to the fuel pump. Fired it up and I drove it home. Flat spotted tires. no brakes except for the emergency brake. No license or insurance. I took the back roads mostly gravel we lived thirty miles away at Ravenden Springs Ar. Still have it cool old rig. 1948 with the extra windows in the cab and has a South Wind gasoline heater !
@Amen.22
2 жыл бұрын
I repaired lots of those south wind heaters on 2.5 ton army trucks in Alaska in the 70s. Someone connected one to the fuel line going to the fuel injector, so if you started the heater the engine would die.
Subscribed, you brought me through the last few very hard days, i thank you my friend! Keep it up and have a good one!
Fix all the very old trucks. They are the best of anything on your channel.

Overlooked trucks. Likely the best of the big three. She seems basically sound. I would like to see you get her back on the road. Is that the Big Truck Six? I noticed the ram's horn exhaust manifold. I have 3 '50's medium size trucks. Great for on site and local work where 50 mph is all you need. Save this one.
