I was married in 1978 at the ripe age of 22 and of German ancestry. As with any German gathering, my Uncle Oscar and distant cousin Bennie played "dueling accordions" while Cousin's wife Irene accompanied on piano. What a found truly amazing was how much the people my age (non Germans) LOVED hearing them play. The oldsters taught the youngsters how to dance the polka, most of them complete strangers to each other! People still rave about that wedding reception all these years later.

Hello from Waupun, Wisconsin.....this reminds me of my Grandpa so much....he came from Germany to America in 1952.....he would always play polka and other kinds of Germa music in his woodworking shop on his farm...when I was a young kid, I didn't appreciate it....now years later I love it..it reminds me so much of my Grandpa...he will be gone 3 years in June.... Thank you, and pllay on!

Your Accordion Man Waltz took me way back. I received a child-size accordion for Christmas when I was eleven because I was a huge fan of Myron Floran. But being left-handed, I put it on backwards/upside-down (naturally). Quickly graduated to adult size. I enjoyed just playing for myself, but anytime relatives visited, I had a captive audience. I took three years of lessons, but unfortunately I never was a natural. It did teach me a lot about music though, which I’ll always be thankful for. You play beautifully. Thanks for sharing.

21:50 This is the song I cannot get out of my head. I think I first heard a piece of it on an episode of "Green Acres," where Oliver Wendell Douglass started singing. I can almost hear him now: "Yaa, Yaa, Yaa, Yaa!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Du, Du, Liegst Mir Im Herzen (you, you, are in my heart)

I am not German but when I listen Rosemunde and all the others lovelly music, it just feels like it flows in my blood. I just to dance to this music at a beer garden in Montreal early in the 70's called '"THE OLD MUNICH" those were lovelly years. I wish this kind of dancing places exist now days... At least we can still listen to this kind of music I still dance to it when I listen it not as fast as I used to do... Brings me a lot of beautiful memories 👍👍👍
