This is great footage of a time when the State fair of Oklahoma was a really big thing unlike today, other than horse shows... You can see the people had so much more pride back then with most people dressing up nice, like they were going to Sunday School; even the ride operators wore uniforms and look really professional! Today, just about everybody dresses like bums and schlubs, too casual... lol

Ferris wheel don't go that fast. The FPS of the film is causing this effect.

My dad grew up on a farm about 1 1/2 miles from there. He would have been 10 and 11yo so I'm sure he was at those fairs.

Interesting video but there may be a discrepancy. The video is dated 1940 and it shows the speedway and grandstand which wasn’t built until 1954.

Same Question. What the heck was going on there? We now know this beautiful & peaceful archive footage is approx less than 3 months before _"Reality"_ struck at Pearl Harbor. Our *USS* *Oklahoma* was still afloat in the Hawaiian Water as well.

But the United States didn’t get involved until December 1941… over a year after this film footage took place.
