👉🏼 This week, we're going on a day trip to Kurashiki in Okayama! Known as the "Venice of Japan" or "Little Kyoto" with waterways, this historical town is home to jeans and textile manufacturing as well as delicious peaches. In fact, Okayama is the birthplace of the legend of Momotaro, the peach boy.
We wanted to do a quick day trip to Kurashiki from Osaka and visit the Bikan Historical Quarters. Although the area is popular with tourists now, it's still a gorgeous place to relax and explore Japan's old-world charm.
Kurashiki's Bikan Historical Quarters was once known for its rice production. Its famous willow-lined canals once ferried boats carrying goods all throughout the area.
As you walk through here, you'll spot many of the Edo Period buildings that have been restored and now function as museums, shops, and restaurants.
