I think the point that the majority of these comments are missing is that to make money as an artist, you have to actually treat your art as a business. I've known many artist and although many of them are talented and amazing thinkers, the majority of them have absolutely no business sense. The few that were successful (meaning they live off of their art) either knew how to scale their art instead of focusing on selling single pieces/performances, knew how to network with clients and within the art community or had good managers who knew how the art business works and didn't screw them over. If you're an artist and you can't understand basic finances, your going to have a rough time. It's ultimately a business at the end of the day.

Congrads to her. But seriously, She had another income. She didn't need to worry about bills If all artists were supported the same way, they too would be able to solely focus on art, networking and the business end..instead of worrying if the electricity is going to be turned off.

This is a terrible video, helps literally no one her success is completely up to luck, and capitalising on a tragedy.

Step one: Move to a country that does not tax 60+% of your income by obvious (income tax) as well as hidden (VAT, inflation) means. Step two: Store your profits in a way that cannot be easily stolen from you, not even by the taxes and inflation. Then it does not matter what you do as long as enough people around you want it enough to pay the price. I am an enterpreneur and the worst obstacles for me starting was the unnecessary bureaucracy. Caring about the business takes a lot of resources, don't let others steal it from you.
