I feel like if they wanted to do specifically a Mater movie, they shouldn’t have involved the rest of the Radiator Springs gang. There could have been a play on Mater’s Tall Tales series, where at the end of the movie Mater recounts the movie to the rest of RS, but no one believes him. Then, have Finn show up to get Mater for another job (but won’t outright say anything about being a spy), which can cause Lightning and the others to question if Mater was telling the truth about not only that story, but all of his other stories.

@@CyberDrewan that sounds cool. but honestly, without the race stuff idk how mater will stumble upon being a spy like that. i think it's appropriate that mater gets into it out of accident but without the impetus of the grand prix race how's that gonna happen? and also if it's really just mater the entire freaking time i don't think a movie would hold up with just him as protagonist, or idk. maybe they could've fleshed out other characters into existence with the spy stuff more so he isn't the sole focus in this alternate cars 2?

The most confusing thing is that Cars... I guess... piss oil. So... what was the oil rig for at the start of the movie? Was that just the piss rig?

In the biggest 🤓 technical sense oil is blood, so the evil henchman who got dunked in the tank in the runway scene at the end of the day probably rolled back to HQ looking like venom snake at the end of mgsv, completely covered head to toe in blood of suspicious and unknown origin 💀💀💀💀

Well, humans drink water, and our piss is also kinda some sort of water, so the same concept applied with cars oil is probably one of the least illogical things out of this universe.

14:24 The reason that the "letting a friend down" thing is relevant is because Filmore told Lightning that Allinall was safe, and he believed him. In my opinion, it was actually a pretty wholesome moment and showed how much Lighting grew from the first film to trust his new friends.

It was basically an extended Mater Tall Tales.

The only reason people didn’t like it is because it was so foreign and different from the feeling of the first movie. If you put that aside, it’s a good fucking movie. Like that shi is orchestrated beautifully and the storyline is entertaining as hell. Idc what anyone says, this movie just one of those classics.

Cars 2 is perfect for kids who love Cars. It’s fun. It’s silly. It introduces new characters, and has that classic love the earth message that movies of this era all went with for kids. It’s not the best plot ever, and it’s definitely more so Mater’s movie, but it’s not the worst Pixar film by a long shot compared to the Good Dinosaur, which I wanted so badly to like.

I just watched cars and cars 2 for the first time a few weeks ago and I loved them both. Thought 2 was a good follow up that added a lot to the world. The spy plot line was confusing sometimes but spy’s are sweet so I didn’t care.

As far as I know, John Lasseter got the idea for this movie literally just by traveling to these places and thinking "what if McQueen and Mater had an adventure around the world?" Like dang. I know Cars was John Lasseter's passion project but making this an incredibles sequel would've been SO much better.

The spy plot could have worked if they made Mater more serious and there should have been more explanation to Axlerod’s plan by making the World Grand Prix longer (such as giving it 5-10 tracks as opposed to just three) have Mater leave on his own free will as opposed to Lightning yelling at him for screwing him over. And having more epic moments.

it was actually supposed to be this way looking at all the scrapped content, having about 6 races, more spys in the start and more fights and deaths and then having the tone be darker in general. I suppose Disney pushed back against that to make it more for kids

@@jackw6583the cut races was definitely for runtime. However, the DS version of the video game contains the races in France and Germany, but they don’t get special tracks like the 3 that did end up in the movie.

I agree that we should focus more on the racing. Like the races are just completely neglected at times, and all the hype for the races are just wasted. And I was really hyped for the racing because the concept is really cool, so it kinda sucks

One of my favorite parts of this movie is the jokes when someone flies above francisco and hes just shitting himself yelling whats happening

14:10 in the movie Lightning said that Filmore told him that allinol is harmless, and last time he didn't trust a friend so he's not gonna let it happen again. That's why he stuck with allinol 😁

I loved the racing scenes in Cars 2. The spy stuff and race was set up perfectly in the beginning but after some rewatches the spy stuff got in the way of the more interesting racing. 5/10 for me.

The biggest fans of Cars 3 are racing fans. That film was a love letter to American Stick Car Racing

Cars 2 came at the perfect time for me, during an era where I was a kid who had just discovered how cool James Bond was, and wanted more of his car chases. Tokyo is such a cool place and this is the One of few Disney films that acknowledged that.

There was a time in my childhood when I watched cars 1 every single day for over a year. I remember when I watched Cars 2 Mater's depression-era and all the dark car death really scared me as a kid. The B plot should've been the A plot, and the A plot should've been the B plot

I have watched this movie when I was small in the theatre. Since then, I have never thought this movie as great, I didn't understand many things and it sucked up for a long time for me and recently I decided to watch this film since I have completely forgotten what's this about. May be I thought I would like it if I rewatch. I liked this movie a lot now, Since now I'm an adult, I guess this is really the greatest animation movie that I have ever seen. I can understand the hate this movie received, still none can stop me from liking this movie.
