Hi Andrew, I am not the person who usually reaches out to someone providing content on social media platforms. Also, because I am an artist who thinks "if I practise enough I can do it myself" therefore I usually don't 'buy' from others. I stumbled over your heron painting about 2 years ago and I was so excited to see a MASTER at work and sharing his techniques, moreover - I was gobsmacked at how brilliant the painting was. So here we are 2 years on and I have subscribed to your channel, I have watched most of your tutorials, some of your podcasts and 'bought' your EPIC MILFORD video. Whilst you don't know me, I feel like I am an old lost buddy so thank you for all your content, I really am amazed at how much I have learnt because as I have said... I am an artist. In fact, I am a mature aged artist (60 years young) with distinctions in painting from College and University, yet you opened my eyes about so many things!!! Thank you so much.
Talented painter, knowledgable teacher, generous soul.
Brother when you picked up all those bottles of mediums at the art store I was thinking: damn this would be expensive here in Hawaii🧐 Then I saw $477, wow. Thank you for spending you time and your money on my education. Much appreciated.
Andrew, you are heaven-sent! I know that traditional oil painting had dropped off the scene not too long ago, which makes it difficult to find good resources and education regarding oil painting. I think you are doing a wonderful job of keeping oil painting alive! I always enjoy your videos and I truly appreciate all the info you share. Thanks again!
This may be the single best series on oil painting on KZread. Genius. Thank you, Andrew. 10/10, sir.
Working as a billboard artist, we got our oils in quarts and gallons. We used a product called Smith Cream to paint on the surface to make blending easier. We also mixed Japan Dryer, Linseed Oil and paint thinner to mix with our paints to make them more pallettable.

Now that I'm getting into oil paint I truly appreciate these kinds of videos! Blessings from México ^-^

Blessings TO Mexico. Please apologize to those around you for the behavior of some Americans these last three years especially... I want you to know that the majority of us are not mean jerks. Please know that we are working on changing things as soon as we can. Love and Blessings to the people of your country. Art joins us together, as do many other things. We must embrace that and hope for better times. Happy painting!

@@HeatherWelk I was FOR GOOD REASON apologizing for how America has been these last four years. Mexican people have had to endure alot of bad treatment from our leadership. THAT was a kind and necessary apology. If that bothers you, you have a problem, perhaps.

they want the poor artists to spent as much as possible so that "the painting doesn't destroy itself while hanging on the wall because of low-class painting mediums". It is also important to check that a painting doesn't go up in flames because of too much linseed oil.

Andrew. Thank you once again for sharing great content. The topic of mediums can be confusing for hobbyists. Your overview was clear and concise.
You explained everything so well and in very good logic and demonstration. Thank you for bringing us these videos!
Very clear and thorough explanation Andrew, thanks.
Your videos are beautifully and very usefully done Andrew, thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Your test panels provide legitimacy and authority to your expert and professional guidance. Thank you for a very informative tutorial on an obscure but essential topic for beginning oil paint practitioners!
Useful information explained well! Thanks for sharing your knowledge Andrew!
Out of all the videos ive watched, you explained the fat on lean rule the best. Thank you!
Another great video Andrew, thank you. I started off oil painting around 10 years ago using Liquin as I like to paint in thin layers. I have tried more traditional mediums, but always go back to Liquin. I can’t tolerate turps so my solvents of choice are Zest it or Gamsol. I don’t have a problem with Liquin fumes as I only use it in very small amounts. It does have varying drying times though depending on my colour mixes, but I feel confident using it.
I am appreciating your talent truely of all of my heart. Blessing for China. Your love of oil painting and your videos means a lot to me. Blessing from China.
Teaching others your talents is a very high calling. Love and light
Thanks for sharing Andrew, much appreciated.
Thank you so much,, you delivered as you said. I asked of this long ago and here it is. Your style is a lot easier to get and stick with, just love your style. Wished I had a studio like yours tho. Boy, nice, especially with your big painting in the back of you.

Thank you Andrew for this video. It is really helpful. I am very new to oils, and you explained the mediums and their uses (especially the fat over lean rule), so well that I really get it now! Plus, I live in an area where we can’t always get the products mentioned in tutorials, so it is very handy to know how to mix up the three mediums. I will recommend this video to a beginner painting group I joined. 👍🏼
Love the video. So many choices, so little time to try all of them. Thanks for making life easier.

It has answered all my questions about fat over lean etc which were putting me off getting into oil painting and made it all clear to me. I can’t wait to get started now. The painting of Milford sound behind you is awesome, such a large work seems so daunting, I am in awe of your achievement
Great help, love shopping at art supplie stores, like collecting everything
Thanks so much. I love learning from all of your videos.
Hey George, nothing wrong with being old ;-) I just spent almost $500 on supplies to get back to oil painting! After 50-odd years of teaching, I believe that this tutorial on mediums is one of the best pieces of art instruction around. It has certainly given me the courage to open my new bottle of Liquin Orignal and get to work. Many thanks, Andrew
I have been having trouble with spreading paint on the canvas so you really help me with that thank you I did not know that there was mediums so you really help me and thank you for telling me that don’t use to much❤
I've been using liquin original for some time and have had concerns about the "yellowing thing" so your video has put my mind at rest. Thanks.
Man I thought I was bad about overspending in an art store! You sure have me beat...giggles. Awesome information, much appreciated!
Thanks for the excellent tutorial video , excellent exeplanatin , step by step , excellent information . I love this video helping me too much , improving my painting . Thank you for your generosity . You are amazing artist.
One of our artist fellows pointed out that you can replace the child proof caps on the W&N medium bottles with the screw caps from non corked wine bottles. The width and thread size seems to be exactly the same. I use the ones with a silvered inner seal of the same type W&N use on the inside of their bottles. Gently wash the inside with plain water and allow to dry for a few days incase a little water is hiding behind the edge of the seal, and they're ready to go. The childproofs can be good to begin with, but after a while, little bits of medium can gum them up. My New Zealand wine caps seem to work great. Of course if you do have children of that age, it's best to avoid with the more toxic bottles.
