"Perspective is only difficult when you think it is difficult." Yet another gem.❤
Thanks Stuart for yet another well worthwhile video. Your videos along with your paintings will live on into the future. I know that I have watched them all from beginning to end. I can imagine that in 50 or 100 years from now some budding young creative humans will be watching Stuart Davies "antique" videos in some totally unknown future format & learning how to paint in your style. Decently mind bending when you ponder on it. Stay Safe!

Hi Stuart. You asked when People started painting. I am retired and I started painting in lockdown in April 2021 because I saw a good old BOB painting. I started painting mountains and the like but soon looked for a bit more. I watched several painters but some like Kevin who only show you enough so you have to go to their sight and pay to watch the whole video. Once I came across you I am completely into your style of painting and have binge watched your videos. Can’t get enough of them. I have improved enormously, love your painting and your whole way of teaching.
Oh lovely, I do like painting trees. I also paint from memory and or imagination. It's a lot harder than people realize. Many, many years ago, I left home at 17 yrs of age and headed off to Plymouth, Devon and studied to become a nurse. We had a year of anatomical drawing of our bodies! I drew everything in colour, shading and smudging and rubbing to make the organ look good. Every crack and crevice of all our bones had to be remembered. Colour for me was the answer. That is the extent of my schooling in art. So here I am at 76 yrs lived never having stopped drawing or colouring or painting.

Glad to know I’m not the only one closer to 80 than 70,Best Wishes to you
Enjoy watching you paint. I've been painting for 60 years, self taught. Always get something new watching others paint. I am a canvas, oil paint, often pallet knife painter. Your style is so different, but fascinating. I'll keep watching. Thanks!
Thank you, I am amongst those that watch your video's from start to finish, no matter if they are 20min or close to 2 hrs.
Love that calm and/or dreamy audio you use at the beginning and the end of video.
I like to watch your videos from start to finish in one sitting. I love your techniques.

It is always a pleasure to see you've uploaded another video Stuart. Thank you once again.
I studied this one and thought about it for several days before I had a proper go. Cos I love it. Now today it poured outside and I knew it was my painting day and I’ve done part one above. Apart from my “poplar trees”, I succeeded in representing your extremely interesting techniques. My gessoed plywood was all ready and now I look forward to the painting drying out and doing part two. Thanks again for a great fulfilling and unique painting experience Stuart.
Thank you, Stuart, for a fantastic video. There us so much information here that it begs for more than one viewing! I have been painting for 6 years exploring many styles and mediums. Oils are by far the best to create with for me. You have inspired me in so many ways. You introduced me to tonalism and the “illusion of detail”..for which I shall always be grateful. Those influences have so enriched my painting adventure! Thank you for all that you give to us. I am one who watches each of your videos to the very end…your stories combined with your instruction makes your videos at once entertaining and educational. Looking forward to the next installment!🙂🙂🙂👏👏👏
It's so awesome that you've let us fans of your talent see the creative process through your videos. It has great value, I am and will remain so. In answer to the question posed in the video, is a definite "YES, you have greatly influenced my painting". You are the best teacher!!! Thank you so much for that! But now I will watch the second part of it.
Great video. I'm 70 years old and still learning. My first painting was in my crib. After that Mom bought me real paints. Thank you very much.
Love your painting techniques,I have been painting about 6 months or so and I’ve improved immensely since watching your videos! Thank you Stuart for sharing your knowledge and expertise 👍
I use totally different media but Stuart Davies videos are still great to watch and listen to while I draw. Great Video!
Greeting for America sir. Thank you for all of these videos. I am Trying to start painting again but can't get past picking up the brush. The first and last paintings i made were given to family members who are no longer with us. I can't seem to bring myself to start anything new. Tho these videos and your stories are helping me slowly get back to it. I have everything set up I jus can't seem to start. Wish me luck and please keep posting. Tho I haven't ben able to paint I enjoy watching and learning. THANK YOU TREMENDOUSLY SIR.
I'm one of those who watch till the end. I've learned so much from you already. Yes you are making me a better painter and you change me to expand my imagination. Thank you.
I must admit, I love the story telling as much as the art created - a lovely combination. Thank you Stuart for another gem and a big congratulations on the KZread award - well deserved! Cheers

Thank you for sharing this Stuart. I have been in a complete funk for a month now, and not painting at all. I watched this video… twice. And now have rescued a beautiful wooden plank from the shed and am absolutely certain, this evening… paint is going on top of this now sanded and gesso’ed plank. Thanks again. Your painting is stunning… as usual. 😊
Congratulations on your silver button award from KZread Stuart! I love your paintings with more color the most...
As always-a joy to watch Thankyou So Much Stuart! Mia 🇬🇧
Absolutely amazing and you share all your learned skills and experience to produce a masterpiece for us. You touch my heart Sir.❤
Another gem! I've been painting for 5 years but with limited time to devote. Thanks to you, I've been inspired to devote more time, and your method has been freeing for me in so many ways. I can paint now with more confidence and without a care which is improving my final results.
I just discovered you and stuck with you the whole lesson - just amazed at your instruction style! At the end, you said that occasionally you think that you might just be talking to yourself the whole time! Cracked me up!😅😂🤣👏👏👏👏👏 Love your style. And will stay with you! Thanx so much for all the help!💗💗💗💗💗
I always watch your whole video! I love to see you paint but I also love your personality. You make me laugh .
As soon as I finish what I'm working on I will try this. I love the idea of working from memory.
💚 Another masterpiece 💚 I’ve followed you for so long that I know your technique so, I will admit, that I do skip ahead in places. Still love (always will) your work.
I LOVE it, Stuart! You're the only one on KZread I can sit and watch for an hour and with rapt attention ... and get joy from it!
As always your videos are very a inspirational for me. You’ve given me more confidence in my own abilities. Your stories are interesting too. I also have memories of very early childhood and was born a year before you.😱
You make it all so interesting. I enjoy your painting tutorials the most.
Absolutely beautiful and peaceful. What a gift you have, thanks for sharing.
Love your technique with paper, absolutely genius❤️❤️❤️
Love this tonalism……fascinating, and what beautiful effects. Also, I will find a larger brush and practice creating grass, trees, clouds and more. Watched the entire video, and had a few chuckles too. Very informative. Thank you. Oh, and looking forward to part 2.
I forgot. I started painting about 30+ years ago. I have painted some rather nice paintings, but somewhere along the way, I began "tickling away" at details too soon. I quit painting my feelings and started painting things. Huge mistake, I know, but I didn't seem to be able to stop myself. I had pretty much stopped painting when I saw your ILLUSION OF DETAIL painting video and it was like drinking a bracing spring tonic! It was just what the doctor ordered. 😁
Watched for the second time! All the way through!
Dear Stuart, Since I started oil painting, my eyes have been opened to seeing all the beauty that is around me. I look at the clouds, trees, grass and flowers. I see that they are different from when I wasn't painting. Thank you for your tutorials. Many Blessings, Annie Queensland Australia.

You have always been a great help to my way of thinking when I paint. Love the new word!
Thanks for all your items you make for us to learn from.
Very instructive and helpful. You answered my question on how to prepare a canvass for this type of painting.. The painting is lovely, unfinished just as it is. 😊
I watch/listen while at work, and hope there’s many more to follow, glad to watch all the way through and will look at patreon also, I think I could benefit from your lesson and by following along - thank you for posting
I've always been a hopeless artist (music is more my calling) but watching your serene, fun videos is slowly eroding the terror I developed from art at secondary school. You've inspired me to dig out whatever paint my mother has lying about in her cupboard and see what I can do. Thank you, Mr Davies and the very best of luck.
Wow I really enjoyed that, you never fail to please. MAGIC!
Thank you so much for all of your advice! You have given me confidence in painting and inspired me to start my own KZread channel. Thank you for all you do!

Welll, I am going to repaet myself. Big thank you Stuart. I am making a comission for some studio i Warsaw Poland .The good thing is they did not asked for a painting of a dog or a cat(I would not agree )They asked for some landscape. They said that they want saomething agressive perhaps storm or a blizzard. The canvas is huge 150x150cm I had to rearange my attic in order to fit this huge canvas. So it is siting on a two stools leaning against the chimney. After a day of painting at next morning I have discovered that the material on canvas has some defeacts. Probably the weaves of the material were poorly woven.therefore the entire length of the height in one section of canvas is covered by those lumps. At the second day I was trying to hide tham making the sky darker. It is tricky becouse clouds are not a vertical structures. Enhh enough of that grumbling. I'll give her a chance and try to hide them in some interesting way. If I fail I will just put a gesso on it and start from the begginning hoping that those dots will not pop again.
Excellent tutorial, great teaching techniques and quality start to the painting. I drift into the now when painting, forgetting everything as I mix, paint and work almost autopilot like. Its great to hear you talk about your experiences too, how that recalls your memory which then can have a significant impact on your work. Fabulous all round achievement.

This is Anna Black my husband set it up for me Stuart. Thank you this was wonderful
I started painting on canvas a couple of years ago. I sometimes paint when i'm in the right mood. When i don't care of the painting is gonna be good. Because it is not wasted. I have been painting and that is wat is good for me. And i have not thrown away any painting. Gave the first one away to my mother. That was accrilic. The next whas in oil. And i find oils forgiving medium. I think i'm not a bad painter. And it sure makes me happy when painting. I really hope it makes you happy as well. I'm learning new things watching and listening to your video's. I really like the stories you tell while painting. The story of the drunk artist is really interesting. And now the stories about you as a todler. Nice. Greetings from the Netherlands,, Kitty.
Great video once again. Quite informative!
I watched this in entirety and was truly fascinated by your technique of using the rolled paper towel and very little color, not to mention the size of your brushes. I absolutely love what you've done here. You say you're going to work on it in a second video. I am looking forward to watching that one. I have been an oil painter for nearly 60 years. Love the medium...always learning. I live in upstate New York. Thank you for sharing your talents.

This is great, that you! I watched the entire video btw, would never miss a second.;) Painting for a couple of years and I have learnt from you the idea of illusion of detail, helped me to see painting very differently.
WHAT AN OUTSTANDING PAINTING! Thank you so much for this lesson too!! So many teaching moments throughout this lesson! Many Thanks AGAIN!
love all the bendery! Thanks very much for your time on camera

Beautiful dear friend...stay connected..have a nice day ❤
Intelligent and beautiful imaginations brought onto canvas. U are an excellent teacher too.
Weird how stuff comes together. I just did a landscape from childhood memory too. Trees are remembered, mine were Pepperina Trees, Willows, and Gum trees. Love those dark colours and feathery sweeps. I watch your videos in parts saved to a list.
I love that. “I’m after the feeling of a tree trunk.” It just sounds so liberating in comparison with my very analytical brand of drawing where I spend so much time trying to accurately represent form and value in graphite. Props to you, and thank you for sharing your work like this.
Love it “bendery of the trees”. 😂
Another amazing painting. I could not understand why someone would only watch a short time. I think “bendery” trees are the best!
Fangirl here. Unstuck and painting so much I can not get to other things that I must get to-I have other obligations but be __amned because the Sky Whisperer-that would be YOU Mr. Davies - has unlocked my mind and my fear!! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! I told my husband you are like the voice of My Precious Savior in my ear, “Do not fear I have given you the tools.” You gave me those tools! This whole business has even translated into a life lesson! All the times I had watched you before, countless, but this time I truly listened to you. You always say not to panic, not to become fearful, there is always a fix. And then there is that magic you do with blurring-BRILLIANT! It took me several tries and five different brushes but as Professor Higgens said, “By George she’s got it…” Now I can do skies. Not NEARLY as magnificent as you but I am not meant to copy you. I am expressing me-and I’m good with that.😄 From an ever grateful heart. Fangirling from Okemos, Michigan U.S.A. Gloriously UNSTUCK and thankful beyond WORDS‼️🎨🎨🎨
It would be awesome if we could see how you load your brush when doing grass work/foliage. Love your videos
Just lovely. I haven’t started painting yet, but I always watch your entire videos and really look forward to the next ones. I also find your voice and storytelling immensely soothing particularly now as my family has been going through some extremely stressful times. So thank you for that Stuart. ❤️
Yet again I somehow missed this video first time round, but, as ever, you’ve done the ‘inspiring thing’ again and I’m tempted to dash into the studio and contemplate trees. You asked how long have your viewers have been painting and whether you have effected the way we paint - for me, about 20 years, and enormously! Having said that, I doubt you’ll ever see this comment given the time lapse…
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.....(quedé mudo). Gracias maestro por compartir.Desde Argentina, César, saludos y cuídese.
