(I didn't bother using a switch, just inserted wire into T shaped bit and connected to negative terminal on battery)

Thanks for this - it works!! Just to add - for simplicity - the other pin in the free socket is actually ground, so all you need is a short (*~10cm) male-male patch wire, to plug between the two pins, shorting them. Long wire going inside the cabin and an on-off switch are not necessary, also looking for a ground on the chassis. etc.

pumpal LKT You're very welcome and thanks for the comment! Cool, I didn't know that. I initially thought you had to ground the wire after turning on the power (hence the switch) however I believe you can do it before aswell.

Hi, to clarify, I can just plug in some sort of wire, ground it, get in the car, do the 5 depressions of the accelerator and that's it?

Hi, thanks for the video, I have a block in the place where you are putting in the wire, should I remove the block and if so how? I don’t want to tug on it too hard and damage it....

Morgan R thanks for the reply Morgan, it’s a 1.6 2010 model. It has those black boxes which I can see you have, but mine is also in the section where you have put the wire into.

Hi, Thanks for the video. But is it normal that you are hotwiring the battery? If i make this connection without the switch i'm getting sparkles and the wire is heating up. I used the right pin as seen in the video. I measured it, and apparently there is 12 v on it with almost no resistance. So i don't get it why you should connect it to the chassis? This will shortcircuit the battery

Hi thanks for the comment. To be honest I'm not sure but I wouldn't think the pin should be seeing 12v. This procedure is from the Mazda service manual but only applies to the 2.2 diesel models. Cheers, Morgan

david wong Hi David, have you tried clearing all error codes with a code reader? You can pick them up for about £20 but I'd recommend using Forscan (free) with a modified elm obd2 reader ( about £15 ebay).

Sorry being so dense, is forscan a brand or obd2 reader another thing? I searched for one on eBay, it's a red case unit is that the one? david wong Hi David, Forscan is free software you can download for your laptop. It's a "modified elm 327" you'll need to search for. There's a few on eBay and usually say Forscan in the listing.

Hi I tried this on my mazda3 sport 185, had a flashing dpf light since last service, the lightwasnt on when it went into the garage so they couldn't reset it. I've done this today and the light went off for 5 seconds and then started flashing again, the same thing happens when I clear all faults on my obd reader. Any idea what could be the issue? Using the obd reader it shows 0 known faults

Hi Matt, did they definitely change the oil at the last service? Have you checked the level on the dipstick? Diesel builds up in the sump of these cars due to the regeneration of the DPF. I believe the light will flash if the level is too high (from diesel dilution) That's from memory though as I know longer have the car. Cheers

@@TheOnlyMosesMalone thanks for your reply. Yes it was definitely changed, and is just about at the f line on the district, nowhere near the x mark, starting to think it may be the timing chain in which case it won't be worth fixing (owned the car for 5 years) I would have thought a fault code would show for the timing chain. Each time I scan it doesn't find any faults

@@mattmulroy7210Yeah doesn't sound like that's the issue then. Are you using Forscan? I believe there is a function in that to see how much the timing belt has stretched.

Does this method also work to reset ecu for the Fuel Additive eolys after a top up?

  • @TheOnlyMosesMalone

Dimple Lau Hi, I wouldn't think so. There may be a similar process but not this exact one. However, look into Forscan, it's a free program that allows you to do servicing on your car, all you need is a £7 tool (I got mine of eBay). That's how I now perform this process so it may work for the eolys too. Cheers, Morgan

Ramteq Thank you very much for some sound advise. I've actually tried two elm devices that haven't done the job. The first from ebay was sold by someone advising to buy their more expensive ELM327 as cheaper ones might not work with FORScan, which I purchased and it couldn't even establish a connection with the car. The second cheaper one established a connection with the car but FORScan came up with a message stating something about clone ELM working with many other Software but not theirs. Don't know whether I should risk wasting money on another one. Do you have an ELM device you can recommend?

Dimple Lau Hmmmn that's not good. We're the devices advertised as "modified", they need an additional switch fitted to allow different parts of the car to be read. Was yours Bluetooth?

The one that didn't work at all was described as modified and has a switch. No info was provided to state which position is HS or MS, but I've tried everything and it doesn't work. Maybe just a defective product and needs replacement. If only the ebay seller was faster with communication.

Just don't change your oil and filter at 10 000 miles. 5 000 miles (10 000 km) maximum if you want your engine and turbo to last
