Something that's really cool, is that in the manga, we don't see the outcome of thier match. However the 2021 Olympics real world, Japan and Argentina did actually play one another. And Argentina won. No idea if it was intentional(probably not) but you can take it as a cool nod to oikawa finally reaching them.

Oikawa was the only player to sit an analyze film of a match down to every detail. That alone made him my favorite player. His hardwork and determination. We’ve seen all these crazy talented players threw out the series, and kageyama said himself “There’s no one I’m more afraid of than oikawa”. That spoke volumes itself
@m8kki

ikr! when kageyama said that, i knew that oikawa would become a really important opponent for the monsters
"Don't you ever forget my foolish pride" Easily the best quote of Oikawa, with it, he told so much about himself that a lot people easily miss. Someone who is not amazing talent like a lot of people he faced and with him showing what pure hard work can do and make even the most talented players afraid of him is something incredible. Not even choosing the easy way out by joining shiratorizawa was so amazing in my eyes and made me respect him so much.

Actually I don’t think going to shiratorizawa was the best option for him. He was a setter that could take the best at every player he was with, but with shiratorizawa were all of them were players that used core strength that skill of him wouldn’t be so used. I love Karasuno and all but I've always rooted for Oikawa. 🥺
One of the things that really interested me was Oikawa's relationship with Hinata. It was something we never have seen much. Oikawa once saw Hinata as a great decoy, and someone he needed to be careful of, but he never was really tied to his past. Now, they would form a friendship. And because of playing with Hinata, Oikawa was able to find fun in playing volleyball, that he began telling of "going back to being a beginner again" something Hinata experienced during the ball boy arc.

U shall remember that oikawa was the first character that introduced in haikyuu who impressed not only Hinata but karasuno as whole team, and I believe he is the reason that karasuno developed so much in their beginning. That flashy serve, those unpredicted sets are the symbol of oikawa. Even kageyama said that the sets and serve he knows he learned from oikawa by watching his play. He wasn’t the prodigy but still he became a man who can stand against them. It was a great to see how he developed as character.
This honestly made me cry! Oikawa could literally be the protagonist of a future Haikyuu series and I wouldn't even mind. That man worked his way to the top one way or another. And him being the last opponent for Kageyama, Hinata, and Ushiwaka is just soooo perfect!

Oikawa gradually became a monster on par with other monsters. Because in order to fight a monster you need to become a monster. And that's what Oikawa became, he had to learn, grow and eventually evolve into the person he becomes. And in the end monsters aren't born, they're created.
"In order for a regular man to defeat a genius, he must become a demon" This is from another anime, one nothing related to Haikyuu, but I think this phrase can also resume pretty much all the hard work and incredible effort Oikawa Tohru went through. I know we didn't get the actual winner for that olympic match, either way, oikawa has reached a point in his life that losing does not mean he is weak and defeated. Also, oikawa and hinata hugging on national tv kind of says "finally, we made it!" both of them are standing on the stage they've been wanting since day 1. I kind of think too that oikawa is a different breed of monster himself esp in the timeskip, so proud of how he has become! tbh i just love to headcanon argentina won that considering last year, they got bronze 🎉 (it also makes sense that he beats them tho)

I don't know if anyone else mentioned this but for me, the entire story of Oikawa's growth as a person and as a volleyball player is made even more special when you know that Oikawa was officially adopted by the UPCN San Juan. Their players and even the coaches made congratulatory videos on his acceptance to the team and I was extremely proud of Oikawa, the Haikyuu community and Furudate-sensei that made it even possible. I have never seen this level of love for a fictional character who has inspired me and others before and it makes me teary-eyed just thinking of it. While Haikyuu may have ended, it's impact in the world will continue to live on in our hearts and memories.

Something not mentioned is Oikawa did exactly as he said. He beat them all, Japan was on a 2 game losing streak to him and Ushijima and Kageyama at the least had made it to the national team by that point. It gives me almost the same amount of joy as seeing Hinata finally play post time skip.
I have always loved Oikawa and his journey but this video actually made me realize how poetic it is to end the story with him literally facing all of the monsters we have grown to love and admire. This man worked himself up to not only stand on the same court as our loveablbe volleball idiots from Japan but also from Argentina. I'm sure that team is full of monsters as well. Well done Oikawa, well done.

It’s amazing how Haikyuu’s themes are so well drawn out and relatable to each other. I’ve been watching this and thinking about Bokuto’s childhood coach when he said “Think about what’s fun, not what’s easy”, and Kita’s quote “Being able to take hurdles head on is just as much of a talent”, and it just goes to show how this story does an exceptional job at reminding us of the core elements its trying to convey over and over and over again through many beautiful and diverse characters. Haikyuu is genius.
@moonhajung6742

i LOVE your comment, and wholeheartedly agree about everything but one: _genius_ is an understatement. i've once read _"haikyuu is a blessing to humanity"_ and wow... couldn't agree more. 🙇♀️
Someone in twt pointed out that in the new one shot when Kuroo goes for Oikawa he doesn't need to lure him with anything (like to have revenge againts Kageyama and Ushijima) and when he goes for Ushiwaka he says that he can play against 'Hinata (who beat him in the Adlers vs Jackls) and Oikawa', so you can guess that Argentina won, moreso If you take the real Olympics. Oikawa was always my favorite character (even when everyone hated him) and I always wanted him to succed but GOD If it did surpass my expectation. Oikawa leaving everything behind and starting from zero in another country, struggling alone and by his own decision yet coming out victorious. Oikawa wanted to eat the world and he did, him being now the wall that Japan has to climb to reach victory is so ironic; he didn't wanted to be a monster, he wanted to be more. And as Oikawa says, those monsters who he used to be afraid of are now just stepping stones on his way to glory.
Oikawa is what happens when an athlete with little to no gifted talent believes in himself. Many athletes in a competitive sport, face very similar obstacles to Oikawa. Having the will to push through and get back up is what makes Oikawa an amazing player in my opinion.

THAT SCENE in the beach volley, that epiphany and callback to Oikawa's childhood, will probably make me cry if it's animated well. Those chapters made Oikawa climb my list of fave characters and that scene cemented his place. Such a great character and arc. Oikawa is truly the hidden main character of Haikyuu. Hahaha P.S. And that panel in the olympics where Seijoh's banner "Rule the Court" is shown with Oikawa? Moves me to tears still. Just. Amazing.

Oikawa is always an interesting character. For his personality to identity. Born not a monster/genius in volleyball he still manage to reach towards his dream and passion for volleyball. On the side note, I sometimes think about the similarity of Oikawa and Tanaka which people might think weird but they actually have few things in common. Both are not monster/genius, manage to overcome their hurdles and reach their goals. However, the difference between them is their mindset. Young Oikawa mindset believe he can't overcome those hurdles he will be facing while Tanaka always try to surpass it as long as he know his chances are not 0. It makes me think, no matter what mindset people have. If what their dreams they strive to achieve is stronger than the mind block they give for themselves. These people will always succeed in the future

Even tho I love everyone in Haikyuu I just can’t help but consider Oikawa my favorite, after Tsukki of course, not only because i admire him and I relate to his motivations and feelings so much, but as a writer I aspire to one day be able to have a character that deep, well constructed, interesting and with such an important message, it’s truly inspiring both his journey and the person behind it

Am so proud of you Oikawa Toru. You will be always be my greatest king, so rule the court.
Oikawa is such an inspirational character to me, and very very relatable. Oikawa's perception about people who had some special talent, and people who were born geniuses, resonates a lot with what I believed in and had been holding on to for a really long time. As I started to see the changes, growth, and self-acceptance within him throughout the manga, I couldnt help but feel so so proud of how far my boy has come. Funny because your comment is why I love Kageyama so much more than Oikawa… He’s always treated as a genius, but no one wants to acknowledge that all his talent is in fact hard work. He’s always marginalized by people like Oikawa because he’s some prodigy, but no one thinks one second that he’s a human being and that he struggles too. He’s an misunderstood sweetheart, and that’s what made him so unstable psychologically. People never try to think that Kageyama doesn’t consider himself a genius, he only trains hard everyday like he does since he’s born. « Geniuses » have generally no one to help them overcome their « singularity », they’re always alone because people treat them like some monsters. That’s why I like Kageyama more. Because no one seems to realize that he has made so much efforts to get where he is. Like « it’s normal for him he’s born like that ». No. It’s wrong and it’s so disrespectful honestly, to say that geniuses doesn’t sweat and cry.

Perhaps this is also because since the release of the manga and anime, so much time has already passed that I became a sentimental granny xD I'm very glad that after a while Tooru found the response and love that he deserves. I’m even more happy for his journey and I’m glad that on a not very easy day for me I found this video, cried and now I’m ready to rise like a phoenix! I vibe with this character soooo frekin much man! It makes my no-talent self have hope to tango with the monsters of the world. My way of growing up and fighting with the best is trusting my proccesses. Always believing. From baby steps... to....

Man I Love Your Haikyuu videos❤, superb Work👌🏾🔥
I did not dislike nor like Oikawa before. But after reading the Brazil arc, he became my instant favorite. I am just very proud of him, overcoming his insecurities. Well, maybe not all, but he became more confident and overcome his self-doubt... DAMN that made me cry. Oikawa, for me, is the most realistically written character. He is so relatable, he acts like a real person really. I just love he is written. It was a joy seeing his growth. Hinata and him are my favorite characters. I just love their relationship. Thank you very much, Furudate-sensei. I can talk about Oikawa all day lol. My friend told me whenever I talk about this character, she said my eyes were shining.

@@moonhajung6742 oh god.... You don't know how timely you commented... Yesterday was just tough, and I was desperately finding something to stir away from my thoughts. THANK YOU. You literally pulled my mind out the abyss lolololol. Yes. Oikawa... I remember youuuu. Damnnnnnn like... The universe works in mysterious ways 🤣🤣🤣
I went from love-hate-nuisance feelings towards Oikawa during my first watchthrough of Haikyuu to him quickly becoming my favourite character. His story is inspirational in a very unexpected way and tbh, I get emotional thinking about it.
great work man
