Great video. Perfectly shows the dilemma faced by heritage railways as they attempt to balance their desire for authenticity against the pressure to become more of a "theme park" in order to attract the ticket sales.

Thanks for sharing! I’ve always found Japanese steam to be incredibly fascinating, and I feel like it doesn’t get the love that steam in other countries does. Learning the story of the Oigawa Railway really goes to show his important it is to keep steam alive for future generations, especially in a railway-heavy country like Japan.

This was an amazing video! All I can say is that it gave me a new perspective on the railway as before this, I only knew it as a company that did Day Out With Thomas events in Japan. The line has it's own interesting history and thanks for showing me that. Will defiantly check out more videos from you!

Excellent video! It was so fascinating seeing the history of one of my favourite heritage railways! One question though: what happened to the B6, the first engine the railway saved? Excellent video nonetheless! Please do more when you have the time!

In the oigawa railway the first when the oigawa railway start the day out with Thomas event there was sepouse to be LBSC Thomas from a movie called the adventure begins and Percy the saddle tank engine and hiro was there too

I wanna get into the entertainment field someday and came up with an idea for a Thomas feature film for the Japanese market. It would focus on the Oigawa version of Thomas and any other character that appeared in the railway. I think it would make sense to give Hiro an important role in the movie. I like the idea of the TV show's Japanese voice cast (whether the original or the new cast starting with the 9th series) reprising their roles. My concept sounds like something a Japanese film studio would do. I can see it getting a theatrical release in Japan and straight to streaming (and maybe a limited theatrical release) in other countries.

I didn't know that one of the steam locomotives came from Thailand. The Ikawa Line between Oigawa Railway Chizu and Ikawa is the steepest railway slope in Japan. In addition, the train running on the main line from Shin-Kanaya to senzu is a train that used to run in the Kansai and metropolitan areas, and is attracting attention from railroad fans.

I'd heard of the Death Railway, but I had no idea it was built by POWs the Japanese captured. I thought they exploited local labor to build it.

Most of the locomotives in the world comes from Scotland even in my home country all the steam locomotives come from Scotland but sadly there is no steam locomotive left in my country as the Government electrified the line
