OHRID NIGHT WALK 2022 [ 4K ] 🇲🇰
Ohrid is a city in the southwestern part of Macedonia, on the northeast coast of Ohrid Lake. Ohrid and Lake Ohrid are one of the main tourist destinations in Macedonia. This city is located in the southwestern part of Macedonia, on the north-eastern coast of the Ohrid Lake. In terms of traffic it is linked to roads leading to Skopje, Bitola, Debar and Republic of Albania. The old road Via Egnatia, linking the Adriatic and the White Sea, also passed in its vicinity, which was an important circumstance for the development of Ohrid in the past. Near the city is the Ohrid Airport , through which air traffic takes place with certain destinations outside the Republic of Macedonia. Traffic on the waters of the Ohrid Lake is of little importance. It is used in the function of fishing and for tourist purposes. The only disadvantage is the absence of rail traffic.
Due to the large number of churches and monasteries, the city of Ohrid is known as Balkan and European Jerusalem. It is also known as the "City of Light", a literal translation of its old name, Lychnidos. The Ohrid region is included in the UNESCO World Heritage. According to one legend, written by the Miladinov Brothers, when the Ohrid fortress was made, Emperor Justinian climbed the hills on which the city lies, and, looking at the beautiful surroundings, exclaimed "oh-hill", which means - a beautiful hill. Since then, the city is called Ohrid. Modern Ohrid is the heir of the ancient Lychnidos. According to the data, the city was first mentioned 2,400 years before the new era. Lihnidos was on the Via Egnatia road, the oldest and most significant Roman traffic route in the Balkans.

@@jacekjanus9357 Ohrid was given to Serbia in 1913/1919; and later Yugoslavia, but I could notice that people on the promenade spoke Albanian in the beginning of the video. Illyrians and Macedon and probably Thracians, lived in the area in ancient times in the area. Bulgaria ruled the place in Medieval times. Cyril and Methodius came up with the slavic (Cyrilic) Alphabet in Ohrid. Serbia occupied the area during Tsar Dusan reign in Medieval times.

Just curious; how can you claim to be "ancient Macedon" when you speak a language akin to Serbian and Bulgarian? NM government signed a treaty with Greece that your government has no claims about ancient Macedonia... that was the pre-requisite for Greece to recognize the new country. Personally I believe that slavic fraction in NM has a mix of ancient Macedonian DNA along with south Slavic DNA and Thracian DNA - people mixed and mingled through centuries. I have good friends from Skopje and Bitola; some of them do not accept the concept of being Slavic people (although they speak a south slavic language), but some of them say, they are south slavic people. Also, many people take Bulgarian passports because of EU membership of Bulgaria.

@@hellenicsouliote5250 Yep, Bulgaria is fighting FYROM accession to EU... while the socialist Greek government sold their soul to Skopje by recognizing the country as (North) Macedonia. Alexander Brodski said it correctly"- his origin is Bulgarian" from Thessaloniki. Skopje people are mostly Bulgarian or south Slavic people; but in Ohrid and Bitola/Monastir they are more Slavic speaking Macedonians (aka Greek). One of my professors was a souliote from Epirus... but that is another story.

We are not Slavs. We are Macedonians like Aristotle philosopher And Alexander the great. The Slavs conquered our homeland. They destroyed our history, our language. Even the names of our cities were made Slavic. The original Macedonian name of Bitola was Heracleia, Bitola is not a Macedonian name, it is Slavic. The name of the City (Ohrid - Ohrid) in Macedonian is Lychnidos. The name of the City Cevgelija - Гевгелия, in the original Macedonian language is gortynia, Cevgelija - Гевгелия is a Slavic name. The name of the City (Strumica - Струмица), in the original Macedonian language was astraion, (Strumica - Струмица) is Slavic. The name of the City (Štip - Штип), in the original Macedonian language was Estipeon, (Štip - Штип) is barbaric Slavic. The name of the City (Bucin - Бучин), in the original Macedonian language was Alkomena, (Bucin - Бучин) is Slavic. The name of the City (Demi Hisar -Демир Хисар), in the original Macedonian language was SideroKastron. The name of the City (Crna - černa), in the original Macedonian language was Erigon, (Crna - černa) is not Macedonian. We may work bring back the original Macedonian names on ours Cities.!!!

Aristotle came to Macedon to tutor King Philip's son Alexander who later became Alexander the Great who conquered the world and spread Hellenic culture all over the known world... Aristotle was Greek.... all toponyms you are mentioning are Greek... I do not see a "Macedonian" language... I agree with toponyms, they were as you noted, and belonged to the Greek world. You cannot revive Ancient Macedonia, without a language...

Sepse politika sllave ka qene gjithmone e orientuar drejt zhdukjes se identitetit shqiptar. Ne fillim sllavet pretenduan se ata ishin iliret e sotem; madje paten perkrahje per ca kohe, por tashme eshte e vertetuar pertej cdo dyshimi se sllavet nuk jane ilire. @@Sgajwkjdjsja That may be true, but the conversation in the beginning was in Albanian. Makedonskijs are not much bigger in numbers than Albanians. The last census showed Albanians in FYROM were 29%, that officially makes Albanians a constitutional minority - the small Slavic state could not survive without the participation of Albanians. If not for the Republic of Albania in 1992 FYROM would have disintegrated; with 2/3rd joining the mother country Bulgaria just like during WW2, and anything west of Vardar River would have gone to Kosovo or Albania. Greece totally blocked FYROM and the Albanian government not only recognized the post-Yugoslav state, but it opened its borders and the port of Durres for Skopje to survive. I could call you many names, but will hold my words out of respect for my friends in Albania with Slavic origin, and for my good Slavic Macedonian friends from Skopje and Bitola/Monastir. Don't ever forget, Macedonia is Greek! Your government signed a treaty with the government of Greece, that Skopje will not lay claims to Ancient Macedonian heritage. Just saying! Pozdrav.

@@HK-pp9ig all the lies in this comment almost gave me a stroke first of all, aincent macedonian history is greek there is no debate about that im not trying to claim it as my own, during the embargo of macedonia from greece the port in varna was opened to skopje, that census information you gave me is absolutely laughable and let me tell you why, no where in the world is a diaspora counted in a census, this census was a joke, permanent albanian residents in Macedonia are 24,3 % that 5% arent permanent residents, the government, SDSM and the terrorist/separatist albanian party DUI, ahead of time agreed on the statistics, its a fact that the albanian minority is declining and the government issued over 100 thousand maybe even 200 thousand passports to kosovars so the government coalition doesnt collapse because DUI is blackmailing them, this is done by changing the law for acquiring citizenship so a requirement is to have to know one of the official languages macedonian or albanian previously it was only macedonian, the leader of the DUI Ali Ahmeti a terrorist from the 2001 conflict, said himself that the albanians would drop below 20%, Macedonians being only 58% also isnt correct, 7% in the census arent registered to any ethnic group because those are the same people who boycotted the census, which was supported from the Left party, so realistically 64-65% are macedonians, considering once the left takes power which will happen they are rapidly growing, they will revoke albanian as an official language, also revoke the citizenship law an oop albanians wont even be 17% also considering albanians here can aquire albanian citizenship once albania joins the eu, because they will join before us, they will leave on their own, problem solved

Bei Minute 5:30 abgeschaltet.
