    Does the STX46 YYA335 for the MT-09 have separated rebound and compression adjustability?

  • @RevZilla

    @RevZilla

    6 жыл бұрын

    No, the YA 335 does not have compression adjustment. It is type code S46DR1, which means it's a single tube shock (S) with a 46mm diameter piston (46), a high pressure gas type shock absorber with internal reservoir (D), and adjustable rebound damping (R1). The type code does not include the letter C, so it does not have adjustable compression damping. It does have preload adjustment though. -DrewZilla

    @@slovencleta do you think that ohlins would put lets say $5000 worth of fork internals into a street bike that is suppose to sell for about 20,000.. they cant jusify the price, so they use externals that are ohlins but some internals are changed to keep the cost down. A oem ttx and a aftermarket race ttx , must have differences internally, because again, on a bike thats gonna sell for 25k, why would they sell it fitted with a race kit ttx right from factory? Ohlins oem and ohlins aftermarket have their differences internally, thats what im saying. Ive heard suspension specialists say that ohlins from factory does not perform like ohlins race aftermarket. . I am only talking about race kit.. as idc about street oem ohlins.. track ohlins stuff is the best

    @@slovencleta ok, well look up your factory ohlins components on your triumph, look at the replacement stuff for the same bike from ohlins.. if they list a for example ttx36 for it, then obvs the ttx36 on the bike isnt the same as the one for sale aftermarket.. but if it doesnt list it for the R model, then you are right and you have the race version.. i just cant see ohlins putting their cartridge kits or full superbike forks a street bike, because then how do they sell them those components afterwards? Same w brembo, factory brembo calipers are great, but are they as good as the aftermarket race brembo? Hell no not even close .. same applies for ohlins . Thats my .02 ohlins will always be the king of suspension, because they spends alot of time and money in r&d . Look up upgrades from ohlins for the 675r . I bet they make a rear shock and forks and or cartridge kits for it .. meaning its a upgrade over the stock oem components ,that at a certain level cannot handle what thr rider is putting it through.. meaning you need to upgrade lol. But us mere mortals the oem stuff is fine. I have a stx46 ohlins w preload adjuster for my srad. Will i ever use all of its potential.. hell no,will it makd it perform better at my level? Hell ya.. does it look wicked being its 20years old and looks new.. hell ya .

If I had to pay all that money to bring another bike up to the same standard I would be crying right now... If you can, buy a higher spec motorbike to start with, you'll save money in the long run if decent suspension and brakes are important to you .

    Ah ok. Everything's different for a Grom compared to larger motorcycles, so those lowered heights make sense now. An Ohlins shock is only going to allow an inch or so of ride height adjustment. Unless you're building a Grom to race in mini-moto, I'd skip the Ohlins shock and just go with lowering links. -DrewZilla

    Öhlins is fine and dandy but like you see on the example the price is a bit hihg? 800 bucks for a shock for a ninja 400 is a bit steep. Anyway, you got the cash then go ahead, it is top tier stuff but even though I am Swede I prefer going with smaller brands like Nitron/Hagon and the like for half if not the fraction of a price for pretty much if not even more functionality/adjustability.

  • @SpurgeonDunbar

    @SpurgeonDunbar

    Pillokun in some cases the Nitron shocks are even pricier that the Öhlins option here in the US. I would argue that for most folks using the Ninja 400 as a beginner bike on the street the base suspension will be just fine. However, for those out there like myself who are modding one out for track use, getting a fully adjustable suspension upgrade front and rear for around $1,600 bucks isn’t that crazy. You know that when you’re buying a bike like the Ninja, some of the components will need to be upgraded. But that’s the beauty of the bike being so affordable!
