Considering the first ever audio recording was made in 1860 and Mozart died in 1791, it's safe to say this isn't him playing...he was a composer.

im a little surprised to be honest that audio even existed as early as 1860
It's dark because its from a requiem mass - a funeral, essentially!
Whenever I listen to Requiem Lacrimosa, I feel immense sorrow, sorrow for Mozart himself, genius among geniuses who died too early..
Musical genius. I would recomend the movie "Amadeus" as well. His biopic.

I figured someone would suggest “Amadeus”. I second the suggestion. AB, his full name was Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. That’s where the movie title came from. It’s a great movie and was very popular.

Brilliant movie. Like many a bio pic it took a few liberties re accuracy, in particular his relationship with Salieri, but still a great movie.

Amadeus is not accurate. I recommend "Mozart, more than a prince". You find it in youtube.
It's amazing to know this was composed hundreds of years ago. I love this reaction ....... good job. He has many gorgeous songs.
Classical music is pure emotion. I rarely listen to it, but when I do, I feel like I'm ascending.
This is from Mozart’s Requiem. He was working on when he died on Dec. 5 1791. It was first finished by Franz Sussmayr to deliver to the person who commissioned the work, a Count whose wife had died earlier that year at the age of 20. Since that time other composers have written other interpretations of it.

And this particular movement, as famous as it is, is indeed not by Mozart, but by Süssmayer. Mozart wrote only the first 12 bars the rest is Süssmayrs composition.
I just finished my university test in latin und learned a lot of vocabulary for that, so: Lacrimosa means "tear" in english. Kind regards from austria 🎉

Congratulations on graduation of university. My family loved Austria. Your country is gorgeous.
Mozart's 4 movement Jupiter Symphony is other worldly.
Don't shy away from your statements. When it comes to classical music, it is not uncommon for different people to come away with different feelings/views. That is the wonderful part of any great art, music, painting and so on. Touching people differently from one person to another. In fact, the different views can be as interesting as the art itself. Example: wow that came to your mind; it's so different from mine; that's amazing! Yes, great art can do that. As me, you looked so engaged; but I felt like going to sleep, but in a good way. not out of boredom, but as I felt like negative energy was draining from my body. And I just felt like relaxing into sleep. And part of it was that "darkness" you talked about. It added to the soothing effect I felt. The "dark notes" pushed the dark energy out and I felt like powering down into sleep.
It's been a long time since I read his biography, but I believe he started composing at 13, and died in his 30s. If a composer didn't have a wealthy backer, they often lived in poverty. He composed some awesome pieces still enjoyed today. Try the Marriage of Figaro Aria. You Amy recognize it from the Bugs Bunny parady. 😊

Heartbreakingly beautiful.
This Lacrimosa is one part of Mozart's Requiem. I would recommend listening to the entire Requiem - it's beautiful. A requiem is a form of music written to mark a death i.e. funereal music. BTW the word Lacrimosa is from Latin and means "weeping/tearful" - hence the sadness of this piece.
The Lacrimosa from the Requiem is the last piece of music Mozart put down to paper. It's a funeral mass. Edited to add translated lyrics from Google: Full of tears will be that day When from the ashes shall arise The guilty man to be judged; Therefore spare him, O God, Merciful Lord Jesus, Grant them eternal rest. Amen.

.sorry i posted repeat info ...just saw this 🧏♀
Mozart is considered by many to have been the greatest composer to have ever lived. It's a defensible view. He wrote his first SYMPHONY at age eight.
Oh you venture to new territories ... I like that! If I may suggest some more famous classical pieces to react to ... Antonio Vivaldi - Four Seasons Johann Sebastian Bach - Toccata and Fugue in D minor Maurice Ravel - Bolero Gustav Holst - Mars Felix Mendelssohn - Hebrides Overture (Fingal's Cave) Pyotr Tchaikovky - 1812 Overture (preferably with full cannons ^^)
there is a very good reason this is kind of dark. this is one of many parts in his final work, and it was a Requiem Mass which is a mass played for the dead or a funeral also, he was very ill when he wrote this an dliterally dying himself didn't fully finish it . this is the last movement he completed in full all by him self. but mozart has multitudes of light music. and really all kinds. there are so many great things you can listen to. i fyou want some ideas feel free to ask :)
Ouch. The piece is entitled, “Lacrimosa.” It is a portion of the sequence of a requiem mass. This is about death and sorrow and loss and grief. Mozart was rarely dark. But if you’re going to go dark, this is how you do it.
❤ I just love your expressions of this song it’s great
You should check out Four Seasons by Vivaldi
The most astounding thing to consider is that he composed countless works, hundreds upon hundreds of major compositions, in a very short lifespan. Many, of not most of these works he composed in days. He didn't sit and tinker with these over weeks and years to perfect them, they existed inside him compete, and the just poured out of him, never to be equaled.
Mozart is amazing. If you've ever watched old Bugs Bunny cartoons...that's how you were introduced to Mozart. Watch the movie Amadeus and come back with more reactions. Its a masterpiece.
Thank you for doing this. I love Mozart ❤️
Loved this reaction. Such an amazing composition! As a professional Jazz musician I would LOVE to see you react to some instrumental Jazz. So What from the album Kind of Blue by Miles Davis or In A Sentimental Mood by John Coltrane and Duke Ellington would be great places to start!!! Thanks for all of the great content!!!
It’s not dark, it’s a prayer.
It sounds dark because it is a death mass. Most of his music was extraordinarily light and joyful.
Lol loved the reaction. But actually no, 95% of Mozart's music sounds happy and soothing, only rarely he composed in minor keys that give it this darker sound. This one sounds dark because its just a section of an hour long piece, a Requiem mass (mass for the dead) which is actually the last piece he ever wrote. You really need to check out more classical music, there's lterally thousands of composers that are worth listening to, and every composer had their own style; not only that, every composer used to write different types of music (so for example songs like today's musicians, but also symphonies, opera, chamber music, church music like this one, concertos, sonatas and much more). What i mean to say is there's a lot of variety in every composer in classical music and you will for sure find something you love in it. Personally, I suggest not sticking to a handful of composers, and especially don't make the mistake of thinking the most famous pieces are the best, usually it's the opposite in this genre. The most famous pieces are often just the most boring!! As next classical listens, I'm going to suggest a few pieces that are easy to the ears, like: Rachmaninoff - Piano Concerto n.2 Beethoven - Symphony n. 5 Beethoven - Symphony n. 6 Beethoven - Piano Concerto n.5 Liszt - Hungarian Rhapsody n.2 (best version on youtube, for me, is played by Valentina Lisitsa) Liszt - Hungarian Rhapsody n.6 Schubert - Erlkönig Schubert - Symphony n.8 Schubert - Piano Trio n.2 Rossini - La Gazza Ladra Overture Rossini - The barber of Seville Overture Mendelssohn - String Octet Mendelssohn - Violin Concerto Mendelssohn - Piano Trio n.2 Mendelssohn - String quartet in F minor Mendelssohn - Piano Concerto n.1 in G minor (best version on youtube is live with Yuja Wang playing) Dukas - The sorcerer's apprentice Saint-Saens - Danse Macabre Verdi - Dies Irae Mozart - Canzonetta sull'Aria, from the Marriage of Figaro (opera) Mozart - Queen of the night aria, from the Magic Flute (opera) Mozart - Piano Concerto n.20 Mozart - Andante from Piano Concerto n. 21 Mozart - Adagio from Clarinet Concerto Mozart - Adagio from Piano concerto n. 23 Mozart - Piano Concerto n.9 Mozart - Piano Concerto n. 22 Mozart - Kyrie from Great Mass in C minor Bruch - Violin Concerto n.1 Bellini - Casta Diva from Norma (opera) Chopin - All 4 Ballades (played by Zimerman) Chopin - Barcarolle (played Zimerman or Rubinstein) Chopin - Nocturne in C-sharp minor Chopin - Nocturne opus 48 n.1 (Rubinstein is the pianist to go for with all of Chopin's Nocturnes) Chopin - Nocturne opus 9 n.3 Chopin - Nocturne op. 27 n.2 Chopin - Nocturne op. 32 n.2 Chopin - Nocturne op. 55 n.1 Chopin - Nocturne op. 72 n 1 Chopin - 24 preludes You could pick from any of this suggestions and enjoy it i'm sure. But there's so much more i could nention and that i'm probably forgetting. Have a good listen!

@@ClassicalMusicAndSoundtracks I'll give you a second chance to read my comment a second time. I specifically said "i'll suggest a few pieces that are easier to the ear" which of course makes them more popular. And, in my opinion more boring, because popular classical music pieces are usually simpler, more melodic and pretty repetitive. That's what makes them easier to the ears.
@ClassicalMusicAndSoundtracks

@@fedegwagwa How exactly is the Violin Concerto of Mendelssohn repetitive and simple? Yes, it's melodic... but melodic doesn't mean simple, and I don't see why melodies would make music boring.

@@ClassicalMusicAndSoundtracks I'm sorry but you keep misreading what i write, assuming i mean something when i really just mean what i write. I didn't say melodic means simple, I said melodic pieces are easy to the ears, meaning they're easier to follow, especially for unexperienced ears. When did I say melodies make music boring?? I said that it's more boring, to me, related to some other music that explores and dares more. You talk about Mendelssohn's Violin concerto: it's easy to the ear compared to let's say Prokofiev's 2nd or Korngold's; it has a more steady rhythm, more mainstream harmonies, easier and more "natural" melodies, well-placed typically romantic dramatic climaxes, and thats what makes it so popular. You're assuming I find it "boring" but I actually love it, I know every second of it by memory. It's just not as musically interesting as Dvorak's Violin concerto or Shostakovich's. You think I'm throwing shit at the music you like failing to see I like it too (why would I suggest it otherwise??). I was just adding that classical music is much more than drama, easy melody, easy harmonies and steady rhythm. He, as a reactor, will enjoy the easier pieces more of course, but I was trying to explain that classical music is much more than just that, and eventually he would discover it
It's so hard to imagine that he wrote the music . So Beautiful
Peace, Love!! That's a different rabbit hole entirely. 😁
I always thought of this has some monster waiting in the shadows ready to pounce. It is dark, but he does have some lighter works.
I've heard this performed live once by a choir and orchestra in Holland's most beautiful and second largest cathedral, one of the most impressive live performances I've ever experienced, different but on par with Muse, Rammstein and Metallica.
Lachrymose - synonym of tearful....
he wrote this on his deathbed after losing everything. explanation to why it sounds so dark
This pieces is only a small section of mozarts requiem in d minor which is about 55minutes
This is one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever produced.

Too bad that it is not by Mozart, but by Süssmayr. Mozart left only the sketches of the first 12 bars of this piece and then nothing. So Süssmayr had to compose the rest. Yet as a singular piece people always call this "Mozart's Lacrimosa", which it is not.

@@jamesryan4618 Few people do. I myself was not aware of the extend of Süssmayrs work until I heard a performance of Mozart's sketches without any additions by Süssmayr and being surprised that the Lacrimosa stopped after about 30 seconds.
In the detective series Inspector Morse, this would be played in some of Morse's more sombre moments
GREAT REACTION! This piece is in my top 7 fav pieces of music. Suggesting again...if you like this, you should react to Sviatoslov Richter's interpretation of Ravel's Le Gibet. Hauntingly beautiful!!!

you should check out Bach (toccata and fugue in d minor) and Beethoven ( Ode to joy or his 5th symphony) there is a reason this music is played centuries after it was written
While most of Mozart's music is bright and cheery, this is a little darker due to it being a funeral mass. My favorite piece by Mozart is "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik".
😮❤
I don't know if you've ever listened to lacrymosa synthesis live by evanescence but its a must after this
You should react to Vivaldi summer or that one chello if you want upbeat bouquet music
It is indeed dark. It is the last song of Mozart's requiem, so a funeral mas. The farewell of the diseased, Lord have mercy on him, Amen. I think you have to do your homework.
The hand of God
You should have added the English translation bro - great video bro
This is a funeral Mass. Not all Mozart is dark.😊
Ooh, ooh, do this one! Mozart again, from one of his operas 'The Magic Flute', this is 'Der Hoelle Rache' ('Hell's Vengance'), more commonly known as 'The Queen Of The Night Aria'. kzread.info/dash/bejne/i6l2x6Sjoa65d7Q.html It's sung in German, but even without subtitles you will get the gist of the emotions! Basic (very basic) story, young girl is the daughter of the Queen, Queen is trying to get her daughter to kill someone, saying 'if you don't do this, I'll disown you'. The Queen sings some of the highest notes in opera in this aria...great stuff! :-)
I was never into this type of music 🎶
Ummm, not Mo Zart....Moat Zart....Mozart. Sorry, drove me crazy every time you pronounced it MoZart. He played for royalty when he was around 5 years old, I believe. If he was allowed he today, we'd be hearing some crazy, amazing music. And yes, as someone suggested, watch Amadeus.
