I had SUCH a bad problem with fungus gnats with all my Miracle grow soil! This year, I bought organic soil, and now I have little mushrooms growing in the soil. I will take mushrooms over gnats ANY day!
The purpose of fungi in natural environments is to break stuff down. As long as it's not harmful, I'd say just let nature take its course. I loved your completely honest insight into fungus in the context of potted plants.
Man one time I kept having the WORST fruit fly problem EVER for like 2 years and I couldn’t figure it out. Decided to move a house plant one day and I found out where they were coming from! Now I’m careful about what plants I bring in my house!!!

Sounds like fungus gnats - not fruit flies. kzread.info/dash/bejne/c6KprMx_nLqfp6w.html
My native soil is like beach sand and I have added about eight inches of compost to it. I still grow my food plants in giant nursery pots and this spring I had a yellow- orange fungus about the size of a dinner plate. It didn't last long.
I can always count on you sir for a great answer. Thx
Another great video...full of knowledge and humor! Thanks!
Thank you for this video! It was informative and practical. Old school!
Thank you for this video! 💚🍄 It felt like I was right in front of you asking the EXACT questions about my mushroom that grew on an indoor plant of mine. I figured hearing from someone’s mouth, rather than reading on Google, will be of more use.. and it was. 🙂 I think the lil guy 🍄 looks cute and my plant is still thriving and sprouting tons of new leaves. Especially since I moved its location to a different window with less lighting. I know mine was because of that moisture though from how I have this plant sitting on my plant stand..Plant above it drains and drips to it when I water my top one.. Definitely hit that subscribe button and thank you for the recommendation on the book! About to order it now! 😄
Very nice video. I learned a lot!
Big help. Thank you.
I have the cutest little yellow mushrooms round my small golden barrel Cactus plant and love them, they don't seem to be hurting it,in fact it's(the Cactus) is looking really healthy lol,so I ain't harming them!
Maybe a hydrogen peroxide drench can help as well as the cinnamon. The experiment you suggest by having a control is an excellent idea to discover whether any of these eradication methods work. Thank you for this video.
Thank you🌷💚🙃
Great video - thanks
Beard is on point
The yellow ones I get stink. Nasty smelling things and when I smell it I go hunting to find them to sure enough find them within a minute.
What to do with fungus in the soil (not on top). I use clear pots and see that in one of my plants has small, very small fungus balls apear everywhere in the soild (about 2inches from the top). How do I treat this? Much appreciated.
Those fungi may actually be symbiotic with the plant, so fighting them is likely not a good idea. This is especially true about bonsai.
Thank you for a lovely video….. Would it be good to sprinkle cinnamon on sidling soil just in case, so to prevent this deadly fungus….

I do that sometimes - especially for very small seedlings.

QUESTION: I HAVE "SOMETHING" GROWING IN MY FLOWERBEDS CAN SOMEONE HELP IDENTIFY IT, PLEASE? I first thought it was some type of mushroom, now I think it may be a fungus? But honestly I have no clue! I don't know how to explain how they look, other than big huge pasta shells. They look like cooked rubbery cold clumped together past shells . There are some little ones but they grow rather large fast. I've never seen anything like it?

Good fungi helps plants - that is why we call them good. But in the microbe world there is no such thing as good or bad fungi. All fungi compete with each other for space and resources. They all live and survive to some extent - if that were not the case the "bad" ones would already be extinct.
They look gross 🤢 they’re all over my seedling 🌱 cups
