'Ofwat Has Failed' Water Bills to Increase by £19 Over 5 Years

Ofwat has announced customer bills are proposed to increase on average by £19 over the next 5 years. Feargal Sharkey tells Kate and Ed that 'Ofwat is to blame and should take responsibility.'
But Senior Director for the Price Review at Ofwat Chris Walters says there will be an investment package in water and wastewater services.

Nah. It just needs overhauling and to be given powers that make a difference. I would be quite surprised if he's still in charge of ofwatt in 6 months time. So far it looks like labour intend to change it all. Giving them powers to withhold bonuses and hold CEO s and the like legally responsible individually. I don't know if Labour intend to legislate so that the companies can't just add their fines to our bills but I think that they most definitely should

@@thecrimsondragon9744 This is a hugely dangerous idea that would make generations of UK citizens poorer. The UK being a safe place to invest, with respect for the rule of law is undoubtedly the most important reason that we are a wealthy nation. Taking shares in a business without compensating owners fairly would a) be illegal under international law b) make companies very reluctant to ever invest in the UK again and c) give license every country where a UK business owns assets to do the same. For example Thames Water is 1/3rd owned by the Canadian public employees retirement fund. Canada is one of our closest allies, how do you think they will react if we try to steal from their pensioners?

Oh and the regulator should be sacked for allowing the water boards to get away with their appalling behaviour!

All the water companies need to do is to make much deeper storm overflow chambers, it's the lack of storm overflow storage that causes the overflows and leaks. In a climate that is getting much wetter in the UK, it's a recipe for disaster if not done! 👍
