An updated look a the KV-21SP1 Sony Trinitron, it only took me 3 years!
Any noise, flicker or lines seen on the TV is a result of filming it on a phone.

WOW!!! That is pretty bad ass!! I had no idea Sony released a special line of TV sets that was exclusively to Japan! That is an amazing piece of collector hardware!
The case, design and shell color is very aesthetically pleasing. Almost like a sculptural piece.
I love the aesthetic look of that tele, keep up the good work my man!
I'm a Trinitron fanatic and have a few, and this is the first time I hear of it! Outstanding addition to your collection, sir, bravo. It hurt seeing the other one, such a shame.
The first pstv
I’ve been looking for one of these for years. Nice find!
Playing Resident Evil 2 on this would be a dream!

Amazing, congrats on your purchase.
In the late 90s, i saw this set of Sony Trinitron PS TV selling in Hong Kong for about USD400. (At this moment, the standard Sony 21" Multi-system TV is selling for about USD250 only.) It's very rare now. Glad to see that you own one set in mint condition now!
I can't believe it can be this good
This is the real "take you back to the past"
Amazing crt ☺ Would love to have one of these!

Shipping this was a nightmare! Hope you can find one!
I'm drooling.
Looks great
Really dig the charcoal black colour, shame that's not a standard option on their other "curved" Trinitron sets, I also real like their gun metal grey FD Trinitron sets, a 27" size set of both types would be nice.
Amazing, a saw the video a year ago and it was actually very surprising to see that ps tv again, Yesterday me and my father repaired an old ps1 with an issue with the disc that couldn't spin I really hope to see more vids of you, greetings from mexico!
Crt monitor junkie here 😻🔥👋🏼👋🏼
There's probably a vsync option to sort out the 50hz picture. You probably won't get PAL video running on it though. Neat looking TV, a very nice addition to any PS1 collection
sick
Really really really cool; I have seen the Famicom TVs but never even heard of this! I wonder if there was one for the PS2

There was a UK only Sony Bravia that had a PS2 built in!
I got ahold of a kv-33dx750 recently that had the same port. The port can support both component and RGBs signals. But after recently acquiring the same avm250 cable and comparing the component and rgb signal, there really isn't much of a difference.
Now i know what my Dream CRT would be. Shame it doesn't have component but S-Video should suffice
This tv is very appealing,bet sony didn't make a lot of them. Also if your handy you can make your own cable(VMC-AVM250) with a female scart on one end.
Damn I want one of these in my room so I can play resident evil 1,2 and 3
I want it!!
nice
Great video! I do have a question though, If you plug a Playstation RGB SCART cable into the TV backwards and then get a female to female SCART extension, would that theoretically give this TV SCART in?
@RyanUkAus
3 жыл бұрын
I did try this originally using two scart cables and a joiner, I got an image but it had no sync... In saying that I think I was using a PAL game at the time which ran at 50Hz and this TV doesn't work on that so that may have been why!
COOL
Hi! I'm in Japan and I have one of these, and I just managed to find an original VMC-AVM250 cable through some stroke of luck. Is PS2 incompatible with this cable? I get nothing but a black screen when I plug it in and switch to Multi-AV mode (and tried switching to RGB in the PS2's system settings). Haven't got a stock PS1 to test yet.

I do love my unofficial gold PS1! If it helps I do have the blue, green, black white and purple official ones!
I am curious. I notice a lot of Televisions have that black strip on the left side with PS1 games. I have 2 crts at home (a 240p curved and a 480i Flat) and both show this line as well, though one more prominently than the other. I notice the PSone LCD also shows this black bar. Is this normal? Or is this an issue of CRT geometry with the above video'd tube.

I’ll have to relook at my sets when using PAL / NTSC and see where this occurs!
Great video I just bought a launch edition PS1 and when I hooked up the color wires it came with, to the back of my TV which is a 2013 Samsung smart TV, the picture and textures is very blurry then I bought a HDMI converter which was RCA to HDMI converter on Amazon. it made no difference.. No matter what settings I adjusted in the TV. Or whatever game that I tested. My PS2 on that same TV looks fine with the rocket fish converter i got, so what do you think is the problem? I know PS1 optimization was at 320P I believe and does this mean I have to get A CRT TV that adjust to that resolution or screen size that it was meant to be played on back then, for the picture to improve? or? Is yours clear playing PS1 games? And if CRT is the difference maker, then I wonder if I still need that converter or not or just hook it directly to the TV and that's it. Or maybe getting the RGB device is another option..

I would test the console on another TV and see if you have the same problem to narrow down whether or not it’s a console problem or a TV problem. I’d also use a different AV cable to rule that out. I haven’t had issues with any PS1 on my 2010’s Samsung (non-smart) TV. As the HDMI converter made no difference it sounds like a console problem.
I have a similar Sony Trinitron Vega 21 inch, to play my retro games.

I won the PlayStation in a Japanese auction, I believe it’s a custom paint job for a prize giveaway or something (not Sony official or anything). Looked cool though so I got it!

I’m not sure, I might have the service manual so could look it up. There’s nothing special or high end about the set though, even the PlayStation A/V port was used on a few other Japanese domestic Trinitrons!

You’ll have to look on Japanese auction sites and use a proxy service that ships outside of Japan. I found mine in the old TV section of Yahoo. Shipping weight is about 33kg, which for me several years ago was about $250USD+ (shipping alone).
Very nice tv but in all fairness why would you want to clock down to 50hz its slow, screen flicker is very noticeable and you get pal borders.

@RyanUkAus

Trinitrons are great sets for retro gaming and older analog media *if you find a good one*. These days, most of them I come across require some servicing or picture adjustment at the least - more so than I see with other TV brands but that’s just my experience.

hey man you should go into the service menu and fix some settings. write them all down first or record a video though. if you fuck up it could be bad. all i really notice is the picture being shifted around 4:07 which iirc is soemtimes a thing rgb signal does
@RyanUkAus

The service menu in this TV is a bit different to the other Sony's (Philips TDA or Sony CXA IC's) I've been in, no real difference in the names on the settings so no indication what they mean... Will be a lot of trial and error though I might just open it up and check the video IC in it and look up a datasheet on it. There's a slight tilt and purity issue with this TV that I'll need to adjust the yoke with to fix too.

PS2 outputs RGB as well as component, so I'd assume so. Then again, the PS2 uses RGsB for 480p and RGBSoC for 480i, so I'm actually not so sure anymore.
