More realism would be a delay between the lightning and the thunder, the longer the delay the farther the lightning. As it is, the lightning strikes are right on top of you.

I wonder if the idea came from a trip to the grocery store. In the display cases in the produce section of my local store, before the water sprayers activate, speakers play thunder or singing in the rain.

Makes me think about acquiring a recording of the grocery store sounds and then building my own lightning strip. The two should be fairly easy to control with Arduino.

This is awesome!! Can you give the speaker a time delay to simulate distant lightning?

Yes, BLI should have really used a delay. It would make it a lot more realistic appearing.

Ken told me at the Atlanta WGH show that he does not think it will get made. He only has 200 orders for it. Spread the word that If you dont want to pay brass prices for ones made by Key Brass and Precision Scale($1200-2100) place an order for one now.

This is the kind of product that a model train company makes, when it has become too greedy and has lost focus. Maybe they should instead focus on helping modelers, not turn-key products that require no skill whatsoever. This kind of crap product is just catering to the lazy “toy buyer” customer, and NOT model railroaders. What’s next…selling completed train layouts and operating them for you?

The C&O Hudson has so many preorders going on. Will there be any left by the time they come out on November 30th 2016?

I recently went to the WGH show in Atlanta and met with the man with the plan. KEN SILVESTRI. He is exactly the same personality you see in the youtube videos. The C&O L-1 may be pushed back yet again due to the builders work load but he had a sample of the finished product on the table to see. Its a purdy gal. On a dissappointing note,he does NOT have enough orders for the NEW YORK CENTRAL COMMODORE VANDERBILT...only 200. So If you want to see it made and not have to spend $1200-2100 for a brass version, now is the time to place a pre order with your local hobby shop.

(11 months later) BLI should at least show people a decent demo in the first place, not a cold 2D historical pic of it...... or maybe just cancel it and make something no company had made before like the NEW YORK CENTRAL 1936 Mercury Locomotive + train-set by Henry Dreyfuss which the train itself already looks like a piece of art. BLI is really good at making streamlined trains, filling the void in the market and being creative, but not all streamlined steam train are attractive. If you want me to pick only one between NYC COMMODORE VANDERBILT & Streamlined Soviet Union 2-3-2K or IS20-16, I would pick the latter and pre-order it immediately , they looks similar but a soviet 2-3-2K /IS20 is extremely rare, you can't even find it from brass train manufacturer.
