I'm thinking it's temporary. There's a big push for a USA WRC event and Subaru is the only consistent ARA contestant with full VSC support and development. My guess is the next STI will be WRC compliant which means: 1.6L flat four with turbo and hybrid, likely a hatchback. They don't want to let Toyota put one over on them with the new Corolla GR for too long and they don't want to leave WRC to Hyundai and Toyota either.

@@BarbWaltersMusic Also... it's entirely possible a new STI might be based around a shared platform Corolla GR in an attempt to field a WRC car faster. Who knows.

@@BarbWaltersMusic I think you may see Audi return to WRC soon, to be honest. With Block over in Audi now, there's a possibility we see EKS get tapped to build a WRC capable stage rally car with hybrid technology.

But then how would you drive a manual in an EV car? You can add one but that defeats the point since there’s no physical gears that are necessary aside from the first 2 gears
