Since I was a child, I'd always remembered Mum talking about how she'd love to see the northern lights. As a kid of 7 or something similar, I promised that one day, when I was older, I'd take Mum and Dad to see them. In January of 2018, I took them both to what was the most amazing holiday experience any of us have ever had in our entire lives. Words cannot do this place justice. Sitting each night in front of an open fire, roasting marshmallows, looking up at the stars... It's just breathtaking! Mum realised her dream on a few occasions and everything was just perfect. Thank you to all the most amazing staff, its just too magical for words :D

It's aurora Borealis which is only seen on poles it is due to nitrogen atoms

I lived in Oulu, Finland for 6 months as an exchanged student and I LOVED it. I was lucky enough to see the Northern Lights three times and I had tears in my eyes every single time. I'd love to go back when our two small kids are older and sturdier when it comes to the extreme temperatures.

I would say that this is the most glamorous place in the world.

We visited the Resort a few days ago.The service was outstanding and the people friendly. The owner is very involved in all aspects of his Resort. Our igloo's heating system was not working and he granted us an extra day. We really enjoyed the stay. I would like to visit the Resort in winter time as well.

I've been there about a million times in my life time (I'm from Finland) and we have a cottage/house about 10km north from Kakslauttanen in Saariselkä. It is the most precious place for me. It truly is something special and there is always something to do, summer or winter. Of course it's filled with tourists during season times and I like to avoid those times. Off-season is the best time to go even if most of the places are closed. The nature is the best part.

Chad Harmon I live in the good parts of LA and it's amazing imo. Sure it would be amazing to live in the countryside, but I'm extremely lucky to live in California. I'm close to the beach if I ever want a swim and the mountains if I ever want to take a hike. Not to mention LA has some of the best restaurants to eat too.

I have never seen a more stunningly beautiful..serene landscape...with such incredible things to do and a warm inviting lodge...all in one place. If I ever come into any money...I will absolutely come see this vision for myself. Thanks for sharing.

I once lived in a small community in Finland, where I used to go out in the evening, lie in a cot in the snow, surrounded by the cracking sounds of the northern lights, the entire sky was filled with flaming colours... I had my fir coat and felt boots on... Awe inspiring!

I’ve just booked to go here next year. My mum has always wanted to see the northern lights, so have I, so I promised her I will take her. My kids will enjoy it too with the activities on offer. Expensive trip but I hope it will be worth it and make some great memories for each of us 😊

What a kitsch ad - just stay and enjoy, wherever. Just make it meaningful. And memorable.

I was there in summer. In 1990 or 1991, I was 10 or 11 years old, and also in later summers when Kakslauttanen was still a rather non-touristy place, they were still buidling the log cabines, and had a friendly receptionist who didn't even speak English back then, but she would always let me "help" in the main building when I was a little bored. In later years there was a dog Pori (?) who came following me everywhere because I would secretly feed him our meat supply. I would station in Kakslauttanen with my father before we went off into the wild down the Ivalo river for a couple of weeks. Someone from the staff always drove us to the entry point in Kuttura. Really nice. Would have loved to see it in Winter as well. They sure have upgrated a lot and I assume it is not a place I could afford anymore. But it sure must be a fantastic experience to go there in 2019!

I'll be here with my family in next 5 years.. I'm so so so excited
