I think your first offer was a low ball offer, the hulk 181 is worth at least 2.5k (depending on whether it had the stamp). What you got for 4k is more fair, for both sides. Just my opinion 😀

$6600 initial offer is too low. Such offers risk the relationship. The Seller may conclude you were insulting his intelligence Or You can't afford to pay fair value. Either way, it's gonna hurt your rep. If I see that a Buyer is not gonna be professional with me, I'll tell him to leave. That's it. Don't contact me anymore. Every dealer needs his gravy but not this way👎

You say the buyer isn't professional when the seller doesn't offer a price? How exactly do you think negotiations are supposed to take place? ALL sellers should expect a lowball if they don't have a starting price offer. What would your initial offer (as a buyer) be if the seller has no starting point?

Thanks for the comment. I agree that the $6600 original offer was too low. The experience I’ve had with this seller is he does not like to put a price to the collection and would prefer that I provide the initial offer. While $6600 is starting low, I don’t think it is unprofessional. Negotiating is definitely subjective and every transaction had many variables. However I still make mistakes. After buying collections for a while, I’m still learning every day. 😅

You shouldn't be offended. A bulk buy requires a significant discount. The seller can always sell them piecemeal if they want to maximize the price, otherwise, put the lot up for auction to see what happens. No one ever buys bulk at retail. When is the last time you plunked down 4 grand for 35 comic books? Sellers should never be offended. It is a negotiation after all.

Good deal . Price was fair . I’m up in Northern California and Santa Cruz. I’m a dealer also I think I’m gonna come down to that con.

Great deal in the end! It’s usually better to ask sellers what they’re looking for first, then negotiate. Of course the value would depend on the grades of each book, but knowing what the seller expects is a good starting point. He was originally expecting $12k for the lot, could’ve talked it down from there.

Thanks for the great feedback. I absolutely agree getting the price from the seller first would be ideal. This seller does not have an idea of what he wants and prefers that I help look up rough values and make an offer from that info. Definitely makes the transaction tricky sometimes 😄

Looks like you still got some great books from the deal. I can understand why the seller denied your first offer, he likely could have made that much selling 3-4 of those books. That said, you never know what a seller is expecting until they tell you. Still very exciting! I love these big deals and trade videos you have been making recently, keep up the good work.

😅 LoL. You make a lowball offer on a great collection, take those same comics to a convention, jack up the prices past your lowball offer, then sell those same comics to make a profit. And wonder why you don't have a high number of Subscribers. Hahaha....😂
