Hi, your work is lovely. A tip for your Watercolours. I like to get the full range of colour when I am stitching with it. To get the full range, I unwind the skein and separate the three individual strands.. Pinch the 3 strands tightly and slowly pull one strand all the way through. Then separatre the last 2 strands in the same manner. I wrap them onto a large bobbin (made from card stock or cardboard)and just use the first ply as it comes off the bobbin. I also store all of my special threads (Watercolours, GAT, WDW, etc ) on a pegboard behind my stitching room door.

I've had this video saved to watch later because I have really wanted to see how counted canvas works. It's funny, I just watched Arlene Cohen's video where she talks about some of her counted canvas charts and I was relieved to see them... I was recently gifted with several rather intimidating looking counted canvas charts and supplies and I was so lost with what to do with them. I decided to buy Arlene's beginner charts, and then this video popped up so I was able to hear an explanation of the materials, and see you working on it. It's a sign that I definitely need to learn to work on the counted canvas pieces! Thank you so much for hosting the Friday Off The Grid party. I really look forward to stitching with you all on Fridays (today...Woo Hoo!) and I appreciate so much how supportive the group is. Ya'll are wonderful!

I JUST purchased two of the Nancy Needle needlepoint projects for my birthday and I’ve purchased my canvas, bars and tacs- stretched it and suddenly got 😬 nervous. The reason I’ve tended to stick with embroidery is that I get so easily confused with the counting. Nancy’s projects come with excellent instructions and breakdown each part of the stitching very well, I just have to force myself to sit and count and mark my canvas. Sigh 😔 I also get confused between counting the lines/intersections/holes- seems each time I read or watch something it says something different. Such as I just read an article telling me to only count the holes on the chart but count the intersections on the canvas.... 🤷‍♀️

So want to stitch this! Or any of her patterns :P oh and gobelin is a word for tapestry (i think french), hence the name for the stitch, because it's a tapestry stitch i think. Hope you had a great time at retreat!

Thanks for your video. I watched every video you took with great help and joy while watching. I always wondering could counted canvas be stitched in hand? Does q-snap work? Will your stretcher bars be framed together with this canvas? I have three patterns and want to start desperately. Really need your help. Thank you so much.

Hello! I don't think you could hold it in hand - and a q-snap probably wouldn't work either. I use wooden bars that dovetail together to make a frame that is the same size as the canvas - and then I staple the canvas to the frame. I also cover the edges of the canvas with masking tape because it is rough and can easily snag thread. Good luck!

Off the Grid Needlearts Thank you. At last will you take canvas out of the stretcher bars then frame it or frame the stretcher bars together with your canvas?

good morning! I use both a K's creation lap frame and a Hearthside Craftworks floor frame. When I'm working on canvas work, I just hold the frame in my hands
