Off-The-Grid 40ft Shipping Container Home Even Charges Electric Car

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This amazing 40ft shipping container home in Northland, New Zealand is designed to be completely off the grid and has a huge solar system which provides enough power to even charge an electric car!
Annina and Pascal were inspired to build their shipping container home after traveling New Zealand and working on organic farms. They decided to purchase a block of land and put all they had learned into action, building a small, simple, off the grid home from a 40ft shipping container which would allow them to be self sufficient, and then planting stunning edible gardens around the home.
When it came to going off the grid, they wanted to ensure they had an abundance of power and so installed a huge 3.5kw array of solar panels which turned out to be enough to even charge an electric vehicle. Enjoy the full tour of this fantastic off the grid container home!

Now this is something which I've been waiting a while to see! It's so great to see a small home with a solar system capable of charging an electric vehicle. It must be a really great feeling to create independence, not only from the grid, but also petrol companies! I hope you all enjoy this weeks tour. With love, Bryce & Rasa!

It's not that difficult in subtropical areas. "In winter, maximum temperatures vary between 13 °C and 19 °C, while minima vary between 6 °C and 11 °C", and I suspect they also see sun for most of the winter. No real need for heating, and most importantly they don't need to store electricity to survive through the winter darkness. Just some reserve for a car charge and a rainy day (literally). Heaven on Earth, indeed.

This is such a beautiful house, garden, and couple . The philosophy and minimal aesthetic of the Sustainability Movement is inherent in the design yet done so artistically. Thought the garden layout was brilliant, enjoyable to view during every season. The deck was perfect in size and added so much character to the home (mimicking it's design on the back between house and shed). Thanks for checking all the boxes and more in this episode!

Very inspiring and giving an example for what is possible off grid! Wish we had a similar property and could build our long planned off grid shipping container home. Thanks for letting us see your nice home!

This is by far the most simplest & beautiful tiny house tour.. That couple they just stole the show.. So sweet & soft spoken.. Grounded & down to earth.. My heart felt with immense happiness seeing those two dancing in their deck. And omg the "fruits & veggies garden", it was so satisfying to look at. One of the biggest fan of your show.. Love from India♥️

Would love to know what they did to insulate the container.
