did ironridge furnish the grounding self tapping screws? My kits does not have any. Should be stainless I think?

Great video! Thanks for the info, I'm planning on installing a similar system soon. However, is your rail installed backwards? I thought the curvy part of the rail was supposed to point down the slope of the roof? Just curious your thoughts, seems like conflicting info on the web. Some install it like yours, which seems more convenient, however some media on the iron ridge website indicates the curved section down slope to take up the horizontal load from the panels. Hmm, maybe it doesn't matter?

Hello Qtturner1, I don't remember even thinking about it when I installed it. Just seamed natural to do it this way. At first glance, I think it might make a difference on the old style flash foot because it would make the lever arm shorter done your way and therefore harder to rip off the roof. With the new style flash foot, I doubt it would make any difference. I am adding 4400 Watts of ground mount solar. I just finished adding the 3rd PT-100 about 15 minutes ago. Good luck with your system.

Why did you mix the Flashfoot and Flashfoot2? Why not use all the same? The L foot is mounted backwards on that 3rd row. You can see it at the 1:00 min mark, looks like the entire row is like that.

Tofulnc, I originally had designed (and ordered parts for) the system to be half the size and in the middle of the project I doubled it. During that exact time is when IronRidge switched to the Flashfoot2. Note: The Flashfoot2 is better. You are correct about the 3rd row L foot being mounted backwards but it probably won't make much of a difference either way. Note: I am about to pull all these off and redo the entire roof with metal roof attachments (probably S-5's). Let me know if your interested in all these Flashfoot brackets and I will make you a deal! :)

thanks for answering my last question... i got another one for you. When using the design tool from Ironridge website, it seems to under estimate the number of FlashFoot's needed. Is there a reason you went with your spacing? did you consider staggering them or after you were done, were they too sturdy or just right or what....? Any how, that is my question. Your videos are AWESOME by the way. i have watched some of them several times.

Salazar, I did consider staggering the mounts on different trusses but felt that it was plenty strong enough as it is and wanted to keep it clean and uniform. I am very happy with the design and it has already been through one hurricane with no problems. Thanks!

Great video. Thanks, but just using the screwdriver to level your rails just means your following the roof level (which could be wavy. I was thinking you might throw a string level on it or something from one end of the rail to the other? :)

That is exactly right. In my case the roof is nearly perfect so that is why I did it this way. I actually built this garage myself (with help) about 20 years ago. In general, you would need to level it out with a string or other technique. Thanks!

How did you locate your trusses, did you locate one and then use a chalk line? Also, how do you ensure once you mount it that it is weatherproof and no leaks in the attic? Great video.

@@bigdaddy19821111 I don't sell power back to the utility. Basically, I use my system like a backup generator (running all the time). The circuits that are on the solar just reduce my utility usage. Solar and conservation have cut my bill by 66% (about $200/month). BTW, I don't lose power when the utility is out. I did get a 30% credit off my tax bill. Why did you put the flashfoots 4' OC. I thought they were rated for 6' minimum?

I used the screwdriver to space all the clamps at the same height. Since the roof was level to begin with, the rails will be level. Thanks!

@@HomesteadEngineering was this because you had a mix of flashfeet? Why not just push the rail down untill the screw bottoms out? I'm installing my panels today on flashfoot 2s and am wondering
