A cool secret you missed: In Aridia there's a cannon in the background firing something across the sky. If you look closely at the projectile you can see that it's actually just one of the enemies from that level

Ratchet and Clank used to be my favorite game in my childhood. I would spend all my time trying to find glitches and finding ways to go outside the playable map. This video showed a bunch of things I never found and it's so cool to see them.

This is very special to me, you have no idea how much time I spent trying to glitch in RC games. Fun fact: In RC3, the sewer crystal area, if you glitch out of the walls in the pipes, you can swim across a green ocean for about 30 mins in one direction until the game freezes.

There are a couple places within the games. For instance, in one pillar in Jak 2 you can see a picture of the team. In 3, if you go beyond the far wall at the port, you can actually see Daxter's pac man game. I'm not sure about 1 though, but there's gotta be some crazy stuff

09:46 damn, didn't know Ratchet was a jedi. Also on Blackwater City some players were able to glitch there way into Qwark's trailer to find the Qwark model already there fully rendered in a T-pose. Most likely so that the model could be quickly loaded for the cutscene

The black wall could be 3 instances of different wall-types used create the different parts of the level. An instance is where you have a 3D model and then you can copy that model and use it multiple times in your level but because it always references the original model it takes up less memory (same textures, collision, shaders, etc). Insomniac got instancing technology off of Naughty Dog after they made Jak and Daxter, 1 so maybe this wall is an earlier type of the way instancing worked and that's it's visible? If you did a boundary-break for Jak 1 you might find the same thing.
@Thelango99
Жыл бұрын
Ahhh, so that is why there is a special thanks at the end of the credits.
On Drek's fleet the ship that's used exclusively for cutscenes is actually part of the level itself. Only problem is that it has no collision, so trying to stand in it will result in death. Also, Ratchet & Clank 3 has some out of bounds secrets that I know of. For instance, on Florana (the second level of the game) you can find some remnants of the cut Turboslider tracks at coordinates 215, 438, 760. Plus, on Planet Zeldrin, you can find the office and Taxi Driver from the Supernova Taxi cutscene at coordinates 0,0,0. The Taxi Driver only appears in the files, but the office is indeed in the level.

7:40 - My theory on the black wall piece is that it might be a leftover of a size reference unit. Modelers use these units to reference the size and proportions of an entire scene, to make that everything looks good compared the characters, props, etc. It's possible that whoever worked on that level left it at the scene by mistake, but the developers ignored it since the player would never see it.
Ah, this old game. Happy memories, Shesez. Happy memories. Thank you for this, I needed it today -- stressed out from a college project. This was a nice thing to wake up to. c:
oh man, I can't count how many hours I played the PS2 games wrench climbing, the boundary break before boundary break also having an action replay with moonjump cheats regardless, very happy to see one of my favorite games getting some attention on here
I once saw a friend making a game. And he had a big complex 3D object. And it was used for testing light and shadow etc. now the cool part: the object itself wasnt just a object, it was used for a kinda calibration point. Every light source that came from the player was projected on the 3D object aswell, and the game had parameters of "how does it have to behave". So when you use a flashlight for example it used the same lightsource on the object, and then it tested if the parameters where correct. If there where any mistakes, the game wuold see this. And if so, it is easier to calibrate. Normaly the objects stay in the game for easier acces (f.e. if they make updates). But in THIS game i don't know why they used the 3D object, maybe it's a test object for collision or for loading codes or whatever. Sometimes they have a code loaded in, and they are binded to other stuff, and it is easier to leave them ingame, instead of writing and scripting it again. there are thousands of possibilities ^^ And sry for my kinda bad english, im not a native english speaker, but i hope you got my points. Unfortunately i can't give any more informations, but maybe someone else know this exactly ^^
Covering one of my favorite games on my birthday? Thank you! It made my day :)

I can hardly even fathom the level of ignorance, stupidity, and pure derangement that it takes to openly admit you have never played a game before espousing your personal opinion on their quality as absolute fact. Especially when one of those games, Rift Apart, is probably the most well-liked game in the franchise since ToD. Fascinating to see such brain damage in the wild.

6:44 You may know about this, but you can actually (in game) use the decoy glove glitch to clip into a wall behind the trailer, which actually reveals a hidden T-Model of Qwark. I know it's well know so maybe that's why you skipped it 7:29 Maybe it was used as a placeholder model for the cliffs. As you said, it was indented several times and was stone; the black texture of it may be because there's no lighting outside of the map or something.
You didn't mention the one thing I *really* wanted to know. Veldin, the tutorial level is also the final level. When you play through the tutorial, the level ends when you meet Clank, however on your second visit you can go past that and there's a whole lot more stuff in the level. I wanted to know if the first visit level is actually the same as the second visit, just you can't access all of it.

I know this is pretty old now, but that stone wall at Eudora is actually a bit copy and pasted through code for areas that you can see the stone pattern extremely low into the fog. Instead of putting too much on-screen they essentially took a flat image of that to at least give you the visual representation that the wall extended down. The only reason I believe this is because in the ps3 port you can see through the lower portions of the wall in certain areas due to it being a faux wall.
You know that feeling when you find all this hidden camera debug crap years ago but you can't make videos about it because your PC sucks all kinds of ass an then 4 years later another guy finds out how to do it and actually makes a video because of an actually competent PC? I am feeling that right now.
