@@mr.robson.official The pit 2 had a flat floor, the og pit has spikes, this pit is a mix of mk1 and mk2 pit

The two t-pose corpses in the acid stage are for the NPCs that get cranked down. I'm convinced that there are separate models for the players that get spawned when the stage fatality is executed.

probably. If there was supposed to be a player model, they'd need three models: Male, Female and Shokan. Not to mention diferent colors, like robot black, Reptile green and Cyber sub-zero light blue...

Not sure if anyone mentioned this, but when you said that there's a texture of the courtyard in Goro's Lair, it makes sense, because they've definitely heavily hinted at the fact that the courtyard is supposed to be directly above it. Like, if you play in the night time Courtyard level, you could hear Goro stomping around below the grate that's on the floor--the same grate that's on the ceiling in Goro's lair. So yeah, it's a cool little detail.

No. The models are there so that if you knock in one direction into the poison the model thats currently being used will just be gone and the skeleton model will float back up.

Love this game. It was so heavy on my old PC it melted the fan, but it was worth it. It gets even better with the mod that allows you to play with Goro, Kintaro and Shao Kahn.

Boundry Break & Off Camera Secrets give new meaning to "all the world's a stage."

I loved the Crash Dummies!! One of my favorite Christmases ever was when I got a bunch of them, plus their stunt bus or some other kind of bus, and spent countless hours messing around with that!!

1:51 Actually the ship bringing fighters to Shang Tsung's island (called Nethership) is not a reference to the movie, since it didn't originate from it, but rather from the official, canon Mortal Kombat comic upon which a lot of the series' lore is based (including some of the movie elements). In fact the Nethership even appeared as a stage in two different versions respectively in MK Deadly Alliance and MK Deception (also reused in Armageddon). Tsk, and you thought hardcore fans would have noticed the dragon figurehead. You don't know what a real MK nerd is capable of! >:) btw Shao Kahn appeared unmasked in the MK2 comic and in Shaolin Monks. Both of which are only partially canon, so if that should be considered his canon look is anybody's guess.

I loved that version of Mortal Kombat. Best version ever. In top 5 fighting games of all time. Best story mode and the story mode model every fighting game should follow.

this is nice. They're cheap where it's practical but they still leave in those little things like the drop pit on the random chance someone might take the camera there.

I can come here and see you show us the techniques they use, and essentially im learning from some of the best out there. As I am a 3d modeller (modeler? screw spelling!). Incredible Insight!!!! The best game that really connected the stages together in full, was Shoalin Monks, and I was surprised to see how the stages really did connect, and so I guess with the new games, they just designed them differently, but they are iconic like you said.

Falling asleep after a long day at work and that sound effect at 0:27 scared the fuck outta me. I honestly thought the spear came from behind me lol

Have not seen your second vid on this so forgive me if I am repeating stuff that you already know. -That creature being fought in the Colosseum and the city is more than likely an Orochi Hellbeast. From what I understand, this demon made its first appearance in Shaolin Monks. You fight two of them; one of them is required to be defeated and the other doesn't have to be. -That hunchback creature is an Oni, a type of supernatural ogre that is common in Japanese folklore. Again, these show up in Shaolin Monks, in both the first stage (Goro's Lair) and the last stage (The Foundry). -The ghouls you cite are Shadow Priests; they are loyal servants of Shao Kahn and are incredibly powerful. As far as I know, these made their first appearance in MKII as part of the background. They made a huge impact at the end of Mortal Kombat Conquest, that ill-fated TV show from the late 90s. They were the ones who wiped out _everyone_ in the final episode. They also, surprise surprise, make an appearance in Shaolin Monks, being the gatekeepers of each portal in Outworld that you have to kill to open the portal they guard, plus they show up in the Evil Monastery as well. They also appear in the first live action movie where Liu Kang defeats Shang Tsung in the Black Tower.

As much as I love this series so far, I really wish you'd maybe show more of what happens behind the scenes during cut scenes and the like. It's always interesting to know what we don't see in terms of when the player has control taken away from them and how character models might get messed up due weird poses that they might do from behind, rather than just zooming out of the maps and looking at minute details.

Fun facts: 1- The hunchback monsters are called "Oni", monsters that come from Hell (or as it's known in MK: The Netherrealm). 2- The soul tornado is called "Soulnado", a portal to the heavens that contains countless souls of the dead. 3- Shao Kahn actually appears without his mask in Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks and the Mortal Kombat 2 comics. 4- Rain also appears without his mask in Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm. 5- The floating ghoul guys are called "Shadow Priests". 6- In the bridge (which is called "The Pit"), the kharacters in the background are randomized each time you fight in that stage. Kharacters that can spawn: Daegon, Sareena, Kenshi, Frost and Reiko. Opposed to the original debut in Mortal Kombat 2, where you only have Blaze and Hornbuckle.
