Rae Rae Rae! Calling Daler-Rowney knock off hurts my soul 😂it's actually a really good British brand, I use their products quite a lot. I think their "Simply" products are like student grade quality, so that's why they are a little cheaper. Great video as always!

Good video very informative but daler Downey is not a knock off brand, they’re a name brand very well known, they’re just slightly cheaper and more affordable and most of their products are focused towards beginner artist and students, although to do sell some artist quality professional products.

Daler Rowney is a named brand, not a knock off nor Walmart brand. They are more geared toward student artists and you can find them in art stores, such as, Blick. We use them at my college in our art kits. I love their ink, acrylic paint, and sketchbooks. Their charcoal is pretty good too. It's no wonder why you thought they were good, they aren't knock offs.

Daler Rowney isn't a Walmart brand. It has really good products. In a quality chart, they'd be after Windsor and Newton or Derwent. I've tested their watercolours and they're amazing.

I would say that for pencils Derwent is better (they are a pencil manufacturer first, after all!) but I think I prefer Daler Rowney for paints. Not sure I have a direct comparison for winsor & newton, but their white designers gouache seems thicker than the metalic DR ones I have!

Charky I’m selling my Daler Rowney watercolours, not because I don’t like them, but because I like my W&N’s better. Quality wise they are awesome, it’s just personal preference. I do love my DR brushes though, good brushes for an excellent price.

I legit started crying when I head bowie was having health issues. Everytime I see her it lifts my spirits because she reminds of my now passed dog Lily. They looked pretty similar and also have very similar temperaments.

Rae my girl...Daler Rowney aren't a knock off brand. A cheaper brand for sure, but you'll find them in any good art supply shop here in the UK. Therefore not at all surprised that their erasers and ink stand up to your more expensive supplies!

daler rowney is not really a knockoff. Just cause it is cheaper, does not mean that you should consider it that way. Daler Rowney is a pretty respected brand where I live. Barring a few bad items, their products are really good.

I went to a walmart in my area. The shelves in the art isle were the same But I did find faber castel stuff and micron pens and even tombow pens. It was a huge score on my part I also saw a heavily dented prismacolor tin. R.I.P. Prismacolor tin and probs the pencils inside too

Hi Rae, just a bit of constructive criticism here (not sure if you'll see this though). The video was fantastic, and I really enjoyed it, however the thumbnail threw me off because it's eerily similar to the one in your Crayola vs expensive watercolor video. My suggestion is to not reuse artwork in thumbnails. I almost didn't click on this video because I thought I had already seen it. I think if you use different artwork and change up your thumbnails, it will be less confusing (maybe it's just me though). That's all I had to say, keep up the good work :)

I agree, I’ve used their pencils before (I didn’t have too high of a budget when I went to get supplies and I needed a couple other things) and, while I personally prefer Derwent, I would definitely recommend them to a beginner.

As different paper also affects the outcome of the art you should have used everything on the same paper to get a proper comparison.

I thought the point of kneaded erasers were to only erase enough to still faintly see the sketch? in that case i think the more expensive brand won.

I love the way you say "Canson" ! 🤣 I'm french and grew up using loads of Canson C à grain paper (it was part of the mandatory back to school supplies list, along with a set of primary colors gouache and sometimes a pack of Canson mi-teintes, the colored version of that paper in muted hues). Canson has a huge range of paper products, from their regular paper to very high end paper. Whenever I need good strong paper, I do tend to buy theirs, in France you can buy it by the sheet in bigger sizes. And Daler-Rowney is not a knock-off brand, it's a very legitimate art supplies brand, in the lower price range, student grade, but very good quality. They make very affordable, good quality watercolors, by the pan or in sets, for example.

The cheap erasers and the ink are by Daler Rowney, that´s a major art supply company that produces everything from paper products to artist grade water colors. Daler Rowney is not a Walmart brand. In all your time doing art, have you seriously never come across Daler Rowney? Aquafine watercolors, a super reliable favorite amongst student brands ring a bell? Daler Rowney is so freaking huge that it even bought Lukas Nerchau Farben, the German company that produces the Lukas 1862 paints. It´s not really a surprise that their products can take it up with other art label products.

I think if you’re going to make a comparison video, it should be a little obvious to do your research first but Rae has a tight schedule as a KZreadr so I can see that being a problem; however i don’t think that was a fair excuse because research is essential when you are comparing things, and especially if they are cultural differences

Ohuhus are cheaper than copics. When Rae originally tested them she thought they were another knock-off alcohol marker until realising fairly quickly. And I also didn't say Rae assumed it was bad for its cheap price. I'm saying that she saw a brand she never saw before so she assumed it was store brand

It honestly depends on what paper you're using. I used to use Cra-Z art pencils all the time as a kid and hated them because I could never get a smooth finish. Recently however, I tested them on actually decent paper and found they aren't as different from Crayola. Obviously they arent aren't as pigmented as Crayola but they definitely are not the worst brand out there.

In my art class, we used prisma color pencils, which I thought was cool yet ridiculous at the same time. There's going to be students who break the pencils, whether it's intentional or by accident.

I love any video you put out Rae!! And if you want the best blend with the markers there is a special type of paper, marker paper. It's made specifically for alcohol marker and will help any brand of alcohol markers to blend way better!! I have a couple off brands and Copics and it's almost indistinguishable. The Canson brand you used in this video sells a pad of marker paper, and there are some other brands out there too! Lot of love to you and Bowie!! ♥️

Cheap can sound negative and imply that that quality is poor. But that is not always the case. Sometimes the "cheaper" items, as shown in these videos, prove to be of good quality. So instead of saying an item is "cheaper", refer to it as "less expensive". If you buy "cheaper" products, it doesn't mean you are cheap. You are just frugal with your money and buy what is less expensive.

I mean, you can, like, buy lacquer. It keeps for a long time. And the fancy powders. Gel polish, gel lights, nail files, nail oil... Plus she's an artist, and it's just... paint.

It really isnt difficult to paint your own nails and maintain the color. Nail salons arent the only way to go you know.

for Christmas my dad got me the penn and gear sketch diary and I absolutely love it its thick enough to be good for acrylic it does pretty good for watercolor too. im on my second one now and honestly I don't see my self changing sketchbooks any time soon and the pocket on the front is pretty awesome ngl.not to mention its pretty cheap which is always awesome

"Cheaper than Ohuhu." No sis. 12 for 10 (I'm not counting the blender because people rarely use them) is not less than 48 for 40. Both come out to $1.20, and that's using the brush-tipped Ohuhu markers, which cost more than the bullet nibbed ones that cost ~ $0.80. Also, seeing their quality in the video, it's much more worth it to get the Ohuhu markers.

It really bothers me when people can't do math and say some things are cheaper just because the price point is lower. Sometimes even it's more expensive and they still say it's cheaper

Ummm the blender is like the most important tool for marker artists. I’ve had to refill mine twice this year.
