Of Mice and Magic

DISCLAIMER: This video is intended for adult viewers. The content in this video showcases an obscure piece of animation from decades ago that only adults (especially film/media collectors) would understand. As such, the cartoon presented in this video is a product of its time, whether through its depiction of the ethnic and racial prejudices that were commonplace in American Society during the Golden Age of Hollywood, or the references to violence, death and suicide. These depictions were wrong then and are wrong today which, in combination with the recent changes in KZread policy, now must be emphasized that children under 13 should not be watching this video, let alone have an account to watch these videos with. The Child Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) has made it illegal to collect personal data on children younger than age 13, which many websites from Facebook to KZread have been doing anyway, and that is why I am typing this to cement the understanding that I only upload content that I conclude animation fans and/or film/media collectors aged 18 or above would find interesting.
With that said, please note that this cartoon is owned by NBCUniversal/Dreamworks. I have no intention of monetization on this video, any monetization made from ads on this video rightfully belongs to the owner. To reiterate, my only intention for videos like these was to display obscure pieces of animation from decades ago. If at any time taking these videos down is necessary, I will gladly comply.

Love these old toons! Thanks for sharing them!
Mae Questel, the very same voice of Olive Oyl, Little Audrey, Betty Boop, and a sexy cartoon mouse @ 0:51 , and who was also singing "If a Girl Isn't Pretty" in the first few minutes of the Barbra Streisand movie-musical Funny Girl and Aunt Bethany in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Such a wonderful talented actress, born in 1908 (very same year as Mel Blanc).
The cat was generally the bad guy while the mice were the good guys. Leave it to Hollyweird to portray vermin as the good guys.
Louise was featured one last time in One Funny Knight, but there she assumed the name Guinevere since she portrays a mouse princess.
Also doing cartoon vo's in this film are:Arnold Stang(The voice of "Herman Mouse"),Jack Mercer..who voiced the other mice and Sid Raymond("The Voice of "Katnip").
Is that Arnold Stang as Herman? Man, that guy was everywhere in the '40s-'70s. And May Questel as Louise? Why is this series so obscure?

Knockoffs typically get vastly overshadowed by the IP they're hellbent on emulating, especially with Herman and Katnip going up against the universally recognized Tom and Jerry. It is quite interesting though to hear Arnold Stang's voice in some Loopy De Loop theatrical shorts a few years after this short, given Famous Studios and Hannah Barbera being on opposite sides of the US.

Herman and Katnip were very underrated. They weren't as popular as Tom and Jerry but not as malevolent as Itchy and Scratchy.

True they are absolutely underrated not many people know about these guys glad I know them
Uh oh, Herman is pissed...Katnip should've known not to mess with a mouse's girl
This cartoon was produced in 1953. For a cartoon that was produced 60 years ago it sure looks great.

@@fjccommish 60 to 70 years ago is a long time in history, but this cartoon doesn't look that long ago. Seeing a 50's cartoon like this as a child in the 70's, I definitely saw them as being old. The Warner Bros. and MGM cartoons of the 1930's, 40's and 50's looked old to me being a child of the 1970's even though they were only 20 to 40 years old back then and to me any cartoon, TV show or movie that was produced 20 to 40 years ago doesn't look very old.

Was that actually Mae Questel? Like, for real? Terrytoons managed to actually drag HER into the mania too? Color me impressed.

It looks young.
@bulletin007: Saying "gesundheit" is much more funnier than saying "bless you". In some of the Looney Tunes cartoons the stuttering Porky Pig trying to say that word is proof.
