OEPBS Sign-Off 1981
Sign-off clip of the Oregon Educational and Public Broadcasting Service (OEPBS) circa 1981. It is preceded by a 1970s vintage PBS network ID and an OEPBS program promo.

I like these old-school TV logos. It's like going back in time!
The State of Oregon divested itself of the OEPBS stations in 1981, probably not long after this clip was recorded. Oregon Public Broadcasting, a nonprofit organization, was formed and took control of the licenses.
"From the Oregon Network..." Love that classic ID + the trees forming a snowflake and star. But while the announcer says FROM THE OREGON NETWORK... it says OEPBS! OETA (Oklahoma Educational Television Authority) calls themselves THE OKLAHOMA NETWORK and KET (Kentucky Educational Television) is known as the Kentucky Network. I wish PPTN (Pennsylvania's public tv network group) could be called THE PENNSYLVANIA NETWORK!
I really like their logo- how it starts out as pine trees and then becomes snowflake-like. Cool.
1:26 The Record Player!
And KVDO in Salem would move To Bend and would become the OPB station there

And change its call letters to KOAB, too.
That is OPB(Oregon Public Broadcasting) from 1981.
Is it just me or is there something odd about the way the announcer sounded? Sounds like he was on a phone and hung up after he was done. Could that recording be older that the sign off itself?

What these top comments had both meant was that they were really saying "TAKE ME BACK TO THE EIGHTIES, PLEASE!!!"
P HEAD IS HERE?!? 0:00
Interesting. Sometimes on old TV broadcasts you can hear an announcer's studio microphone making a not so clean "chunk", "click" or "whoosh" sound when it's pressed or released when finishing a sentence. Any engineers out there want to take a stab at this one?

Your comment is over a decade old, but I'll try to answer your question as someone that knows audio engineering... To my ears, it doesn't sound like part of the voiceover so much as it's part of the transfer of this broadcast, the transfer sounds poor/bad quality. However, if it was the mics... worst case scenario, it's either some funky wiring issue with the recording equipment or it's something in the background going on getting picked up by the rather sensitive mics, possible it was some compression to keep vocal dynamics consistent which brings up low levels & crushes high levels. Again, this sounds more like something going on with transfer quality of this sign off.

Whoa! I didn't think anyone really gave a damn about my question after so long - Thank you for the response, @Tman1995 ! That's a great explanation and I still appreciate you weighing in, no matter the length of time. Back then, I didn't consider transfer quality being a cause when I posted my first comment, but today that does makes a lot of sense. Thanks again.
I also am curious as to what that sound was at the end when that male announcer finished speaking. And also, there was a beep at the beginning, right before he started talking. I think maybe it was an intercom system, or something like that.
I don't know why, but I think the voice is creepy to me, especially on a late night. So to ease up the creep factor, I decided to add music to make it less creepy
After much listening, THAT IS Toccata by Mannheim Steamroller, 50% reduction in pitch and tempo.

Magic!
Is it just me, or does the OEPBS logo's music sound like a slowed down version of Toccata by Mannheim Steamroller? the music in the ident - 0:36 - 0:42 in the video - really does sound like a slowed down version of 0:15 - 0:23 from the song itself
Was that an intercom those last 42 seconds? *Beep* Stations of the Oregon Educational and Public Broadcasting Service now conclude another broadcast day. KOAP TV Channel 10 Portland, KOAC TV Channel 7 Corvallis, KTVR Channel 13 La Grande, and KVDO TV Channel 3 Salem are licensed by the Federal Communications Commission to the state of Oregon, acting by and through the Oregon Commission on Public Broadcasting. We welcome your comments and suggestions, which can be addressed to the commission at 2828 Southwest Front Avenue, Portland, Oregon, 97201. That Helvetica belongs with the red-and-blue N of NBC. Think WAPI-13 Birmingham, KPLC-7 Lake Charles, KACB-3 San Angelo, maybe KTVL-10 Medford if they hadn't yet switched to CBS.
I’m not sure guys
This is 1982
