My son and I just did the quarter glass on our 240. When we go for the hatch, 100% agree with you I am calling a pro

how do you get the hatch to stay open? i am looking at the same one from seibon and they say not to use the hydraulics, not sure what else they would use though.

The hydraulics don't work. So we use a channel lock to hold open when necessary

What brand is that carbon fiber hatch? I'm considering buying one and I'm not sure if they all have the same dimensions to allow the OEM glass and trim pieces to fit

This one in particular is a seibon Right now due to availability it also seems hard to get your hands on anything decent carbon fiber. However every carbon fiber piece is going to not fit quite as perfectly as OEM.

@@KendraCultureApparelStudio hey, thanks! I thought the Seibon hatch came without the hole for the center brake light based on pictures I've seen, but I guess they offer 2 versions of it? Anyways, it looks great 👍

@@zanderlee1998 mine had been sitting with the old owner for about 3 years he never installed it. However I did have to custom cut out a lot of the hatch for the brake light to work. I used the Dremel for that.

How was the fitment with the hatch? I'm looking at perhaps replacing my rusty one but I don't want something that looks super off or rattles around when driving. Thanks,

@@blakeslide6919 it doesn't open, but likely due to the age of the OEM components not so much as the hatch fits poorly

How much weight did the hatch save keeping the glass ?

I didn't physically weigh anything, because this was more of an aesthetic, but the carbon hatch itself is probably 10-12 pounds. I just didn't wanna use lexan and wanted to keep the OEM glass

I'm not sure what you mean, as it fits flush with the trunk, and top? There's not really much room for improper installation.

@@KendraCultureApparelStudio it looks like theres a small gap along the bottom edge of the glass, where its supposed to sit flush with the flat portion of the hatch, its also why the metal trim is super close to the roof line.

@@AlvarezAdrian1 oh, it doesn't seem like that in real life, you can tell the glass had no where else to go, I couldn't expect the carbon fiber hatch to fit identical to OEM. there's also minimal areas the glue could attach to the CF. either way I am still super happy, I have zero leaks, and no damages.

@@KendraCultureApparelStudio yeah I figured it either looked that way from the video or it was because the fitment wasn't 100% identical to the oem hatch. That's why I was hesitant to buy a carbon one (that and there is basically zero information online about them) and I just searched for a oem replacement

Not sure what you mean! Never intentionally meant to cut him off, Was just offering this as a generic how to video. He barely talks as his priority was to ensure the glass didn't break.
