Big thing to note about Smash Ultimate on all switch emulators is that it's always going to be choppy at first no matter how powerful the device given the shader cache compiling.

For sure. There are definitely other games that are similar. The first 10-15 seconds might stutter then after that things get much smoother.

Great video, I think optimization with Yuzu will eventually get the majority of the switch games fully playable as the hardware is more than capable. Glad to see Virtua Racing on there although I play the PS 2 version on the Odin Pro. Cheers

Question, what driver did you use for VR. I got an Odin Pro 2 and it run but with a lot glitches.

We went from the Odin Pro being barely capable of PS2 and GC upscaled to Odin 2 being so fast that emulators need to catch up

It’s the best at $200 but that dimensity chip is a few years old the Odin 2 has 3-4 times the processing power.

are there any resources showing how the ezio or arkham collections perform? was thinking that maybe the extra power might help knight run a bit more smoothly even if it is being emulated

Although I own just about all games that was shown and I can play them right now on the Switch, there is something compelling to play these games on Odin 2.

Yup, that's definitely a factor. The battery life is also awesome, and I the fact I can play my Switch games and my PS2/Gamecube/whatever all on one device just feels so convenient.

What resolution are these playing at? Cos DQ11 has kinda bad resolution if you play it handheld on Switch. Would be cool if you could get an increase over that.

I'm currently thinking about getting one used for a decent price (for my country at least) but it's STILL pretty expensive... Worth 3500SEK/€304/$328/£260? I'm currently on a 351P, which I've been (and still am) very happy with, but it's obviously VERY underpowered so want to upgrade to be able to play up to Switch. How are the ergonomics when using the D-pad (I'm a sucker for 2D-stuff so a good D-pad is important to me)?

@@Takk224 i placed an order for a cold grey pro odin 2 a few days ago, dont expect to see it ship before JAN 24, they ship to indigogo backers first, then us, longer you wait to order, the longer you will wait to get it

Well, I showed it in a couple of the game that struggled for that reason. Even the most demanding Switch games aren't pushing beyond 8GB. So, the Pro model with 12GB makes some sense "just in case" but at least for now, 16GB is definitely overkill for the systems we can emulate on Android. Maybe if we eventually get PS3 emulators though?

For Switch testing I did add drivers (Turnip and Qualcomm) since it is a pretty simple process of just dropping in a zip file. they make a big difference in some games and others, not so much. Most of the games shown were in docked mode but a couple (both Zeldas) seemed to have a slight but noticeable improvement in handheld mode.

Which emulator are you using ?

safe to say having a odin2 means you dont need a nintendo switch at all for the most part? i mean, for the most part (if the person is not a hardcore nintendo fan, just want to play some switch)

If you can tolerate eggns, you can run much more than yuzu can, and less ram usage, battery drain and higher perf.

This is a good mid generation of console and more top android handheld. I started to think in 360 emulation but the prices are still too fancy.

Most of the time, yes, but for one or two games Qualcomm drivers worked better.

thats not how that works... the mod only uncaps the frame rate, if the odin isn't getting anywhere close, uncapping it won't resolve anything

@@iOxideAUS normally I would agree with you but uncapping the FPS does allow the game to run batter and at higher frames vs capped. There’s something odd going on with this game. I could reproduce this with BOTW and Bowsers Fury on the GPD Win 4. I would be seeing frames under 30 and when I uncapped it would be in the 40s.

It's hard to say. Does it have enough horsepower? Yes. However, right now Yuzu is very, very picky about memory and really wants you to have more than 8GB. Other emulators like Skyline Edge aren't memory hogs and if a game runs it should be fine, but right now Skyline is behind Yuzu in development.

I bought Odin 2 base version i hope Yuzu is improved to such an extent a yead or 2 from now that it could run all games at 60fps even if people own 8gb ram version of odin 2. I personally intended on playing ps2, gcn, wii, DreamCast and N64 only so i don't need more then 8gb ram. But. I hope switch emulators gets update each week until it gets better and better for low ram console can emulate it well enough!

Right now the only Switch emulator that needs so much memory is Yuzu. In a year or more I think you would be fine. All Odin 2 models clearly have the CPU power to run Switch games but Yuzu is very demanding on memory. Others based on Skyline use much less memory.

Its so sad Nintendo stompt the yuzu team out of existence.

What sucks is that in the next 1-5 years the Odin 2, like all devices will be old technology. It will still be able to emulate everything that it currently can, but if you want to emulate newer stuff you'll have to shell out another $400-$900. Meanwhile your Odin 2 is now worth $100 in used condition. Technology is frustrating. Ha.

$600 just to play Switch is crazy
