The star train of my youth! I rode, 12 years old, from Saarbrücken to Luxembourg, just to watch it come in and go out. By train I rode, of course and purely with steam. Very few electrifications in our region thence. As a young boy I never could afford a ride with it in, for example Luxembourg - Strasbourg in those times. Until the moment I would have been able to afford it, this legendary train had already vanished from european rails. But there seems to be hope. In the Netherlands efforts are made to reconstruct one unit. Good luck! Perhaps my dream will come true: Ride with it (inside!). At least once in my life.

The TEE diesel locomotives were scrapped in North Bay, Ontario, Canada in the late 1980s. Carriages were withdrawn from service in the end 1990s. Vandals destroyed more than half the cars and four returned to Europe.

Het blijft een prachtconcept, de TEE, en volgens mijn bescheiden mening was de Diesel IV het mooiste treinstel ooit ontworpen. Ik ben dan ook blij dat ik een actieve rol heb mogen spelen om deze trein weer op de rails te krijgen. Mooie video, goed gekozen muziek!

Echt een geweldige trein (en video). Die TEE had zo'n luchtweerstand dat je er gewoon een glas wijn op je tafeltje kon laten staan!

The french TEE looks so nice with it's stainless steel panels. It is clearly inspired by the California Zephyr in my opinion.

Music is very good. I expected "Kraftwerk" - of course - and this sounds a little like a Kraftwerk-Remix. Good choice. The "RAm 501" is wonderful. Thanks a lot for sharing, never seen this train in action before.

Kraftwerk was refused for copyright reasons so this seemed like the perfect alternative !

I would have loved to see,video of the power changeover at the Franco-Belgian border. The loco is one of the CC40100 "Quadricourant" series, From Paris to the border the train runs under SNCF's 25 kV 50 Hz; thence under SNCB's 3 kV DC. At the changeover point the driver drops the pantograph, coasts through a short neutral section with all 4 pans down, then once under SNCB overhead raises another pan. Once the locos systems confirm that all is well, the driver can reapply power and continue.

Dans les années 1970, il fallait être bien habillé pour monter dans les TEE - voir à 6.08, tous les hommes portent veston et cravate ... Ce fait m'a un jour valu une remarque d'un contrôleur à l'embarquement à Bruxelles-Midi sur le premier TEE du matin vers Paris ! Belles et rares images des TEE Diesel hollando-suisses.

Although I dig the Kraftwerk tune, this makes it a bit more fluent - and more fitting with all the SNCF trains. The cadence could also represent trains. :) Congrats! Always refreshing to return here! :)
