As of 2017 Ginsu Knives are still manufactured and sold. The Quikut and Ginsu brands have both been manufactured in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, since the merging of the Douglas (vacuum cleaners) and Quikut (knives) companies in 1964. Douglas Quikut also manufactures ReadiVac and American Angler brands. In 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015 Consumer Reports reviewed the Ginsu Chikara knife set in their comparison of fifty knife sets and rated it as their "Best Buy".

The ginsu knife is the same as the magic TV knife? I'm going to send a check to that address and COD it so I can send it back just keeping the magic TV knife as a gift to see if its just the ginsu! "Sorry no COD" Damn. "Rush delivery available!" Sweet! I wonder where those things were made? Not china but rather mexico? Romania? The democratic people's republic of the republic of the Congo? 1978? That 50 year warranty is almost up but the only guarantee is that address will be closed down by the FTC or SEC or IRS in about 3 years. Why not make it a hundred year guarantee or better: A LIFETIME guarantee without the possibility of getting your money back!

I found out in 1996 that the address you sent your check/money order to was an address owned by, or the actual studio address of the channel broadcasting the ad. My girlfriend and I were up in Alpena, MI when I was watching the local CBS affiliate on TV and it was full of these ads, and in each one it said to send it to an address right there in Alpena (in fact, just down the street from our hotel). Interested in one item, I got in the car to drive to said address...to find out it was the actual TV studio. lol

Likewise there was a PO Box in Atlanta that appeared in MANY of these ads, especially on cable. The mailbox was across the street from one of the stations where many of the ads were filmed. The station had a side business doing fulfilment. These are historic buildings in my opinion. The TV station is now a church and the Post Office is about to be torn down. It's sad. But nobody remembers the history these days.

@LatitudeSky I recollectedly realized a few of the addresses I had seen from time to time in my youth on these cable channels. I still recall the one for anything advertised on CBN; PO Box 1155, Norfolk VA 23501. (They also used an address in Virginia Beach once as well.) And yes (W)TBS used an address in Atlanta, naturally. USA used the number 1-800-USA-1000, but I don't remember the address(es) they used.

Interested in one item, I thought, "Why not just go down to the place and pick one up?" That really surprised me when that one ad said to send to Kalaheo Av. in Kailua. I’ve lived in Kailua my whole life and Kalaheo is a residential street. Not to mention that I’ve never heard any ad saying to send to Hawaii at all. Weird! 😮

I am seriously wondering what the deal is with the "recycle old clothing" caption in the commercial at 10:23. It doesn't match the style of any of the other text in the ad, and that font genuinely looks like it came straight out of an Apple II. Did they forget to originally add it and only realize it in post-production or something?

I swear to you I just looked up that K-Tel Knitter on flea-bay. I cannot figure out knitting or crochet for the life of me. My mother, grand mother, and great-grandmother is/was amazing crocheters. Fly through rows without even looking down. My great-grandmother did those teeny tiny doilies. I am sadly lacking this ability. I hope maybe this gadget will help me make weird things for people they can pretend to like at various holidays/celebrations.
