For the deliberate, the boundary umpire has to signal out of bounds before the siren, which he had not done.

Spot on, boundary umpire also isn’t supposed to signal the exact millisecond the ball goes out of bounds, he has to first turn and face the field umpire before signalling, meaning no free kick was the right call

Said this before, but with the deliberate "out-of-bounds", it hinges on whether your going on the ball going over or the umpire's call of going over. The umpire didn't call out of bounds till after the siren, despite the ball being over before the siren.

The correct call was no advantage because the umpire believes that all the players around the contest have stopped and that the player that received the free kick wanted to not take the advantage.

Yea fair call, but they also call some weird advantages when there is no advantage

they didnt pay the deliberate before the siren, they cant pay any free kicks after the siren and the field umpire was to slow to call his whistle

Sucks for the lions with the power outage. Commanding lead (and healthy percentage) erased with an unexpected break in momentum and a chance for the opposition to have an extra team meeting. I said this would happen months ago. 4 umpires is too many. All the extra umpire gives us is an extra unneeded set of interpretations on the field. If 3 can't keep up sack em and find people that can.

The rule is that the boundary umpire must blow the whistle for out of bounds before the siren The rule: For the avoidance of doubt, if immediately before hearing the siren to end a quarter, a field Umpire is of the opinion that a Player should be awarded a Free Kick or a Mark, the field Umpire shall signal that play has come to an end and then award the Free Kick or Mark to the Player. A Free Kick will not be awarded where the football has been kicked and, after the field Umpire has heard the siren, lands Out of Bounds On the Full or insufficient intent.

better the afl respond to CTE lawsuits this way, if that is what it is, than denying the well established connection between concussions and CTE, which some other leagues are doing.....
