Beautiful stuff Lisa! Interesting about the differences with the normal cool over slow cool. I'm getting ready to mix a fresh batch of Temmoku and was debating whether to change my recipe, as I get too much crystallization and it turns a matte gold. But I think I've only slow cooled. so I may give it another chance with a normal cool. I'm looking forward to more unloads! Stay warm!

Yes I was also getting almost too much crystallization with the slow cool. I'd love to get it somewhere in between the two. i'll have to do some testing

Look at you all bundled up!! Lol Did you get an error on the kiln because it was so cold? If you have electricity out there run a space heater so the kiln doesn’t have to work so hard as well as not having it cool down too fast! I have a shed that isn’t insulated and I just run the space heater while the kiln is on and while it’s cooling and I haven’t had any problems since I started doing that. You definitely want to do the celadons in different directions or you will see the streaks. Just a make sure the layer beneath is dry before applying the next one and don’t let the brush drag. Make sure you have the brush full.

The gorgeous mug from around 4:30 looks awesome with your hat!! Have you seen the underglaze transfers from Elan Transfer shop but there’s a 2nd line called Dirty Deeks. They have all sorts of “salty decals”. Made me laugh & laugh! I had to get some of course. Lovely kiln opening! Congrats!

@finklepottery704

I’ve been firing in all weather for about 5 years now. Never had a problem. The kiln rep said to try to fire at least every few weeks because of moisture. A slow cool helps with the temp dropping too quickly when it’s really cold outside
