Me too. I recently had to leave an ab*sive relationship and move to a whole new state and the people I'm staying with don't want me going out into public or into crowds because of c-vid, so my plans to finally have a fun summer after 6yrs of not being able to must be put on hold for another year.

I've never been to Oceans either, but I remember kids sneaking over there from Worlds & during church or school events back in the day & adults wondering how they got soaked.

I had a friend that worked at a Subways franchise. One day when the owner was visiting she just flat out asked him if he knew why it’s called a BMT. He said that they market it as meaning something related to the sandwich, but actually it’s in honor of the Brooklyn-Manhattan Transit. In the particular restaurant my friend worked in there was wallpaper of old-timey NYC images related to the NYC subways systems and other mass transit in the city and his other franchise restaurants had images of NYC from the 1920s-1940s. So maybe that’s true. I honestly had never questioned it until she asked him and from what little research I’ve done on it that’s generally the story that I see the most often repeated in articles about it. The Italian BMT is my favorite. I like it as a sandwich and as a wrap! Maybe the Sharks Revenge they should put some images of sharks along the tube’s sides. Or maybe once-upon-a-time there was more shark theming. I know that at the local little waterpark in my hometown that the names of the various water rides were changed when new owners bought it and changed its theme. It’s had three different owners and so three different themes over the years. The most recent owner, the fourth, had plans to reopen this summer. However, they’re completely redoing the park. Removing old attractions and building new ones and there’s been delays. They own several other small water parks throughout the US that have varying names and themes. It was first called Pleasure Cove and the theme was like New England Beach except the kids area which was pirate themed for some reason. Then it was sold to a local family who renamed it Sun & Fun and they basically just themed it “summer” things like one water slide was called the School Break. Anyways then several years later it got bought again and was renamed Splash Zone. The new owners were from Kansas and they definitely used “splash” as the theme by installing all kinds of splash pads, sprayers, etc around the water park. The new owners have said they plan to name the park Wild Willie’s. Some noted that safari animals have been painted on the large fence/wall out front between the parking lot and entrance to the park. So most folks think it’s theme has something to do with that. Originally people thought it might be western/cowboy themed. I like the part where you’re like if you thought the Midwest didn’t have anything tropical. LOL. The biggest water park in my state is called White Water Bay and has a tropical theme to it. Although in downtown Oklahoma City there’s the Myriad Gardens and in the Myriad Gardens Bridge, a large round glass building that’s built bridgelike over the lake in the park, inside there’s a tropical rain forest you can walk around and explore. There’s even a waterfall in it. It’s really pretty! I remember the Wichita Zoo has a building that houses tropical birds and it has a tropical rainforest in it. Although neither locations are much fun when it’s already 100°* outside. However, in the winter when it’s 40° or below outside, the Myriad Garden Bridge is great because it’s so warm inside! You talking about people being injured or dying on attractions reminds me of my sister. When we were growing up she loved going to water parks and carnivals and theme parks. Now it takes my niece a lot to get my sister to go on anything with her. And she always cited deaths and injuries she’s heard about in the news. I’ve never been a big fan of riding rides or going to waterparks, but I made the most of it whenever I have gone. I mean, there’s attractions I won’t go on because they mess with me in ways that can ruin the experience. I know what those are and so don’t go on them, but there’s still plenty of others that don’t effect me negatively. And it must be a family thing because I have other family members who also can’t ride certain types of rides, etc, without negative consequences from their body (I usually joke that my body just wants to remind me it’s there). I visited Valley Fair in Minneapolis many years ago and rode one of those water boat rides. Afterwards we stood on the bridge. As it was late in the day and the ride was further in the park, there wasn’t a line. We were stopped on the bridge talking about what we wanted to do next and whether we should begin moving towards the front of the park. Anyways, the ride operator remembered that one of my friends had not gone on the ride with us and had said he’d just get wet by standing on the bridge. Then didn’t go stand on the bridge when we went down. My friend made a smug remark about how since we were the only ones at the ride that it was unlikely he’d get wet. So as we were standing on the bridge I noticed the operator started the empty boat and let it go. I didn’t say anything and as the empty boat approached the drop point is when everyone else suddenly noticed. The friend who was still dry started to move to make it across the bridge, but the giant wave of water hit just as he was slightly past the center of the bridge. It was a huge wave and drenched all of us! Another friend and I went back up to the ride operator and thanked him for doing that and gave him a tip, which he thanked us for. He said he wanted to do it since when we got off the boat we had been nice to our friend and pointed out that we didn’t even get that wet on the ride and so our desire to use the water to cool ourselves had failed. That’s when our friend made the smug remark. The operator said he wanted to help us cool down and also get our smug dry friend wet since he had went back on his promise to stand on the bridge when we were in the ride! Looks like you had a lot of fun! Thanks for sharing your experiences! I enjoyed watching your clips and hearing you describe your adventures of the day!
