Ocean Solutions for Nature and People with Fiorenza "Fio" Micheli

Over 300 million people worldwide depend on the oceans for their livelihoods, and over three billion people rely on oceans for food security. Today, oceans are in an era of upheaval, propelled by climate change, overfishing, coastal development, and other stresses. Alumni moderator, Geoff Shester, PhD ’08, and Professor Fiorenza Micheli discuss the latest innovations needed to sustain ocean health and solutions at scale for oceans and people.
Fiorenza Micheli is the David and Lucile Packard Professor of Marine Science, professor of oceans, senior fellow at the Woods Institute for the Environment and professor, by courtesy, of biology. Her research looks at the processes shaping marine communities and coastal social-ecological systems and incorporating this understanding in marine conservation.
