I was to Ocean Grove in the 50's and 60's and its good to hear the full story and see the Victorian houses.

O.G. was my childhood home. I often played in the park next to the auditorium, and drank from that fountain. My great grandfather was a Methodist/Episcopal minister in Long Branch, and preached once in the auditorium. When he died at a very young age the famous preacher Billy Sunday took up a collection at one of the Sunday sessions, which was enough to buy a house there for his widow, so that she could rent out rooms. Their younger daughter, my grandmother, was a real rebel, often sneaking out of Sunday meetings with friends. As an adult she would host secret home parties with alcohol, and sometimes drive her car right through the chains at the gate, when she was late getting it out. Her older sister was a saint like her father, and also died young. Although not having lived there for many years, that little piece of paradise will always hold a special place in my heart.

hey there! I enjoyed watching your take on Ocean Grove. Having spent many week long trips to the Grove in my early years, it is always fun to revisit the place that made such an impression on me - including the victorian architecture. our first trip was in 1964 - well before the ban on cars on sundays was lifted. that was a unique experience for sure! so many fond memories - it looked like you enjoyed your time there as well! jt

Yes. The Ocean Grove Fishing Club structure on the pier was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy in 2012. Today there is a new pier over the ocean without any structure on the end.

Is there a dome above and around the entire town? Otherwise, I don't see how they don't have bugs.

Incorrect at the end. Hurricane Sandy took out that fishing pier hut.
