They're all in their 50s now. They were all born between 65 and 69, so here they'd be between early and mid 20s.

I feel embarrassed for people who thought bands like OCS and The Verve came after Oasis 😂😂

lol I know I find it strange that Simon's my age there makes me wonder how much I'm going to change...

They were pretty good even then, but a bit pretentious. Interesting how, as they actually got much, much better musically they also lost that slight air of pretentiousness. I like it though when Damon said about the importance of integrity, because I think OCS has that by the bucketful. They are likeable as human beings as well as musicians, certainly from 1996 on. Simon comes across as a bit of a tosser here, whereas by 1996 he just came across as a really good bloke.

Steve and Damon were 22 in 1991, Oscar and Simon were 26. Up until fairly recently, Simon looked a fair bit younger than his actual age. He was 31 in 1996, when they had their big breakthrough.

This sound/scene wasn't really their calling. Fuck me they'd finessed it by Mosely Shoals.

Were they trying to be like The Charlatans, ey?

I think it was the times. Simon has also said in an interview that they didn't deserve to make it in 1991, they just weren't good enough. I think they served a bloody thorough apprenticeship with OCS for almost 7 years, plus the stuff they all did before OCS, plus Steve and Damon's work with Weller. So by 1996, they were damn good musicians/band. I like their music, but I also personally respect all of them. They just seem regular blokes who are very talented but have also worked damn hard to hone that talent. No airs or snobbiness or arrogance about any of them and they behave like shits in interviews, which some musos in their position o because they think that's 'clever'.
