    Most of the time, content on the Internet connected to OCD isn't helpful because of the way it is presented. This video here is a great example of how someone should present a helpful piece of information on OCD. It is friendly, calming, without any extra stretching out, no useless bla-bla-bla. Straight to the point, this man says the things as they are. Thank you sir for your video. Although I know that my fight will be very tough even after watching this video, I think it kind of calms me down and strives me a little bit in the right direction. I'm not going to think (like I did before) - oh, this video is definitely going to help me immidiately, because this only results in dissapointment. The reason quality content like this doesn't help us people with OCD is because we hold the key. Videos like this one serve as an encouragement to fight back and in a way you feel not alone - usually people with OCD are very isolated and through this video, for example, you could "communicate" indirectly to another human being, it being this man who seemingly understands OCD well. We, humans, are social creatures and social deprivation mostly is only going to make things worse. To all folks out there having an OCD attack, or dealing with hardcore symptoms right now - don't forget who you are, put your well-being in the first place, never foget to care for your health and after all - ask yourself: "Do I want to waste my life away due to OCD, or do I want to go through all this extreme uncertainty so I can fulfill my goals and future plans?"

    You have to believe in yourself, you have to believe that you are not your ocd, once you separate yourself from your ocd, once you say it out loud that it doesn’t scare you, you take control of it. These intrusive thoughts don’t get to define who you are. These thoughts are absolute garbage, and they don’t get to interfere with your life and spoil it. It is very tough to not react to them, but it is the only way you can overcome them. I am struggling a lot but I will get better by taking therapy and trying my best to not pay attention to these garbage thoughts. My heart goes out to all of you struggling with this illness, I hope you beat this disease. may god bless you all.

    Weed, as well as any drug, hides what is going in the back of your mind from you. It may not particularly cause OCD, and it may relieve symptoms during use, but as those symptoms are hidden, the actual problem will fester and grow further out of control. If you really want to take your health seriously, stop smoking for a while and sort yourself out. This doesn't mean you can NEVER smoke, as making that commitment would mean that weed still rules your life, but it would wise to use it in moderation after your life is in order, much like alcohol. True freedom is being able to do what you want, when you want, because you know you can. Hope that helps bro

    After three failed relationships/dating experiences where I just didn't feel "connection" with them, especially this last one because he was a super sweet guy and I had lots of high anxiety about trying to figure out why I felt a lack of connection with him and calling it off I developed ocd about checking to see if I'm connected to others or fear that I'm not connected to others. It's sent me into a depression because I felt extremely awkward around my family and best friend I used to be completely comfortable with. I've learned/learning to accept the fear and not panic as much. It was devastating at first because I was scared to leave the house or be around anyone because of my sense of panic. It still gets to me because I don't like to feel awkward when I see people I was previously completely comfortable around. It's so weird I have a hard time explaining it. Now that I've somewhat been able to accept the panic or if I'm having a good day I noticed it helps if I stop checking my feelings. I got in that habit when I was dating the guy, checking to see how I felt when I was with and trying to force myself to feel a certain way. Basically what do I do to keep healing from this? I just have to ignore the awkward feeling and still go out and try to shut off every checking thought?

    I feel like I may have OCD to some degree. Although I don't struggle with all of these thoughts, I've had some of those intrusive thoughts (related to harm, sexual things, etc.) for the past 4-5 years, and I only just now realized they're more of a problem than I thought because it got worse after coming back to school from the pandemic, where I’ve been constantly battling amplified anxiety, shame, and plenty of other feelings, ever since. I watched a video on OCD recently and have been researching it since because I really think it's the only things that makes sense for all these thoughts/urges I've had that I'd never wish to have. For the past few years, I've been able to ignore them, never act on them, and get by with my life hiding them so I'd never have to bring it up to others and drive them away with my twisted thoughts. But suddenly this year, they grew worse (as my anxiety did), and now it's become difficult to actually ignore and battle these thoughts now. Your videos are helping me on the journey of piecing myself back together and finding new ways to think or help myself, I really appreciate them. 😊

    First I like to say thank you for this video . I am 32. Now and I started noticing something wasn't right when I was 15 that's when I really noticed it. I watched a mtv tru life episode and it was about OCD. I finally figured out what it was. I attempted to get help in the very beginning stage. It's been 17 years now and I'm starting to realize that I need to finally fight this. It has really affected me in real life. What I used to do in the beginning is joke about it so whenever I did something the involved my OCD I would make a joke making fun of me having OCD around my friends. When truly I did really have OCD. You said some things that really hit home in that short video. Those thoughts I have in my head if I don't do this or touch this three more times etc this bad thing will happen. If I don't follow through with the compulsion then that threat that I had in my head will happen. You said something in this video that I really like we don't know the outcome until it's truly tested. If you don't check the stove it it might start the house on fire. Uncertain I'm living life is there no problem to solve there is nothing to solve. I will keep that in my head uncertainty. I really just want to get rid of this completely I'm tired of all my rituals and I've been doing my research again and seeing other videos that could possibly help me fight this. I will stay up on your channel and hope to see other good videos. I really do appreciate you posting this video and just a short amount of time I did catch some good ideas.

    What you said at the end resonated with me. This is super personal but one time I was unable to be intimate with my partner, my member just didn't arrive to the party. After this I literally obsessed over it and what was it meaning, seeing other attractive women would trigger me as I was constantly ruminating about what this ment and the constant uncertainty of this happening again, what if I'm never able to have children, what if I just don't enjoy sex, what if what if what is and the anxiety of it happening again. I developed a compulsion of basically feeling myself multiple times a day to just prove an erection was possible. I'm doing a lot better now I've been practicing all this "yeah, so what.. my wife loves me and if it doesn't happen it doesn't. Who cares? You're right.. I won't be able to perform and my life will continue - and this isn't a problem needing to be solved here in the grocery store, this is a false signal." Etc. Also adjusting my mindset helped. I've been trying to see the situation as a learning experience and see how much more close me and wife are for having to communicate this and get closer. Maybe it pushed me to go see someone and talk to someone as this issue is probably caused by a bigger picture.

    I used to fear panic attacks too, until I just got BORED of them. I purposefully treated them with great disdain. "Oh, THIS again...borrrring!" or "Ok, I wonder how long this is gonna last this time? 10 minutes? Blah, blah, snore!" They held no power over me anymore and now I don't get them.

What help with EPR that I put in consideration OCD ideas are lies only or at least I don’t have to respond, believe or follow them because it makes me being abnormal person. I really love your videos and it help me a lot on my OCD treatment thanks from the bottom of my heart.

    Thank you so much for your videos! I am just wondering what the best method would be with Rocd.. what can I do about thoughts like „what if I like this person more“? Just answering myself „yes maybe, maybe not“? Or is there an option like in the example with not checking the oven and just leaving the house? Is there something similar I can actually DO like in person? It’s so difficult because it’s just the thoughts and not really an action in real life that you can change.. maybe you can help me with that Thank you 🙏

    I obsess over harming thoughts I’m scared that I’ll harm someone I’m scared to drink alcohol or anything because I don’t know what it’ll do. I have a ocd diagnosis, on sertaline which has helped a bit, although I’m having a bad day with it today. See a therapist and have been told by them multiple times that they don’t think I’ll ever hurt anyone and that I have the thought because I’m empathetic to the point where the thought of me harming someone makes me distressed. OCD is a pain.

    You know. I always thought out of everything in life, whomever I meet or interact with, that no matter what, my mind would be the only entity that would never deceive me. Like my mind would be the only entity that I could trust..but it seems that a mind wrapped in all sorts of issues is more bad, than having people lie to you. It seems I can't trust even my mind or people.

    This is how I felt for most of my life (I'm 43), and still do, in that I have a constant sense of dread, impending doom and fear of "something bad" happening. But I realised about 2 years ago that the "something bad" WAS actually quite specific. It was the terror that my mum and dad will die, and also that my cat will die. They are my debilitating fears. And it sucks knowing that both of them probably WILL eventuate, as my parents are in their mid-70s and my cat is almost 14.

  • @ladybaabaa3294
    @ladybaabaa3294 Жыл бұрын

    Since I was 7, I've performed fear-based rituals to try and relieve the chronic anxiety I've had since age 4. If I didn't touch every single soft toy in my room every night, "something bad" might happen. Back then, the fear was that my parents would get divorced, my dad might hurt my mum, or my dad might die. In my mid-teens, I got bored and couldn't be bothered touching all 50-100 toys in my room anymore, and deep down I knew that wouldn't prevent bad things from happening, and that I was not able to control other people and it was completely illogical to think that by me touching or not touching an item, it could result in someone else dying. I mean, why are MY actions more important or powerful or relevant than this whole person's LIFE? Answer - they're not. I "allowed" myself to just touch 3 of my most sentimental toys, and that would be "enough". Around the time of less rituals, the OCD motor tics began. PS. Yes. My fears have come true. Several times. Ironically, that's resulted in much severe anxiety, but less OCD rituals. Because it showed me that no matter what I did, those bad things still happened. I had no control at all.

    Please help me and save my life Sir. I have had OCD for past couple of years. Whenever something would make me anxious it would trigger nausea in me. I would be constantly afraid that what will happen if I vomit in front of people. Will they look at me in a strange way. Too much overthinking and repeated thought patterns resulted me in actually vomitting, although most of the times nothing came out and neither was it in front of people. However, the constant fear,panic and the vomit is a painful thing for me. Over the years although I have been living normally, but lately something trigerred me in imagining that I had my vomit fear and OCD again because someone has done black magic on me that would never go until I die. This repeated thought is making me very panicky and causing me to vomit every day. Please please help me

    I know this response is late and I hope everything went well on your flight :) there’s a video by mark freeman on yt called how to have panic attacks on a plane I think and it really helped me face a flight home when I was struggling. I was experiencing intense dizziness and panic basically 24/7. the idea is to allow the brain to throw up what it wants but to do what we value or need to do anyway. let all that be there. Before my trip I also had this sense of impending doom. I was tossing and turning the night before imaging all types of scenarios. The truth is I didn’t pass out, fall down, panic and throw myself out the plane, or lose my mind. I was just really scared. I was dizzy and sleep deprived from the night before and nervous as heck but it was alright. Despite all that going on I had a nice conversation with the person sitting next to me and it helped time pass. I hope this resource helps ! there’s a ton more videos on his channel about how to be a human w a brain that are extremely useful

    My ocd is very mild, i don't like things in simetry, equals and etc.., i wash my hands after using the bathroom, but it's not repetitive But i have obsessive thoughts, re-checking and contamination fear, these thoughts are like "oh my god something is wrong i'm gonna die" but even if i tell myself everything is fine, my brain can't shut up, it keeps saying im in danger, and sometimes i do some things, but if i feel that i forgot something, i re- check it and i make sure it's done, and jusr by thinking about getting contaminated by a disease that will make something really bad happen like rabies for example, i would completely avoid dogs even if they are clean, just thinking about the disease is enough to make me stay away from dogs
