This looks insane! I’m Dutch and there’s so few movies set in or from our country, especially since all our best directors and artists immediately move to America, so its really interesting to see a whole A24 movie about the Netherlands? But also as someone who studies history it just remains so vital that we teach and inform every generation of what happened. There’s already reports of how few young people are really properly taught about the Holocaust, and with the internet thats not gonna get better. I mean the fact that some ppl see WW2 as irrelevant or just distant history is insane to me, the way it plays a role to this day, and the stories I remember as a kid from those who actually lived through it.

I'm assuming you're being sarcastic but all films were in 4:3 before the studios decided to start doing widescreen to compete with television. It was a gimmick, and was intended for use with films that had big sprawling landscapes. 4:3 is a better ratio for intimate close ups and other framing. Some of the best paintings and photographs are square, not rectangle.

Three tickets for me, my wife and my wife’s son for the newest A24-produced, genre-redefining, trope-subverting, atmospheric, dark and eerie, emotionally draining, gut wrenching, aesthetically heavy craft by post-horror auteur with an arthouse edge, dread-inducing, suspenseful build up with strong character development and gradual feeling of escalation, bone-chilling slow burn with “say more with less” approach and soul-shaking, blood-curdling, skin-crawling and nerve-wracking exercise in persistently looming dread where tension and anxiety permeates every frame as movie reaches its nail-biting, jaw-clenching and paranoia-inducing final climax, free of any cheap gore, cartoonish CGI or infantile jumpscares horror film, please.

@@shipovnik89 more than 7,600 Canadians died liberating the Netherlands. Like all wars, there is enough guilt and sacrifice to go around for all parties involved. Dutch national archives list approx. 300,000 Dutch nationals accused of collaborating with the Nazis. More than 65,000 Dutch nationals were tried as Nazi collaborators. The archive opens to non-academics in 2025. The Netherlands had the highest death rate among Jews in Nazi occupied Europe. Nederlanders helped do that. Over 20,000 Dutch served in Hitler’s military. I watched the films of happy, cheering crowds welcome the marching Nazis into the Netherlands. Aalsmeer, where I stay, was very pro Nazi. As you can see, there was plenty of home grown horror during that time. But even with all that guilt, I believe the world will be better place with all the Dutch, Canadian, and German children growing up without the sins of their families.
