Glad to see this kind of content again Bully, I really miss all the cool Modding stuff, there’s no good bass mod channels right now,
That bridge ground wire is important. It made me happy when you decided to plug it in. It's not required to get sound out of the pickups, but that's what grounds the strings and everything.
I have used two of these kits in jazz basses. Simple install. Quality kit. Sounded good to me. One had Duncan’s and the other was OEM pups
I put that exact harness in my Player P with an American Fender pickup I got off reverb for 40 bucks. . Sounded good, easy install.

You mentioned replacing the bridge with a gold bridge. I would recommend gold colored saddles. Get an eBay gold bridge and swap the saddles onto this bass. You could also get a set of brass saddles, but with flats, that may make the tone a bit too flat sounding. I usually run brass saddles on nickel or steel round wound strings and steel saddles with flats.
